Christmas Ornaments Crochet Coasters

SKILL LEVEL:
Easy
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.

MATERIALS:
Yarns:
DK (double knitting)
Elle Pullskein/Family Knit DK  (Green; Orange and Yellow)
Small amounts approx 20 – 50 yards
Hooks & Notions:
Hook 3, 50 mm
Yarn needle

Notes:
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.

Size: approx 12 cm in diameter

Abbreviations:  US Terminology

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side
SC2tog – single crochet 2 STS together (decrease)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Hook 3, 50 mm

With  yarn make a magic circle

ROW 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 11 DC into ring (12 DC); SL ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH

ROW 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST; then work 2 DC into each ST all round until end (24 DC); SL ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH

ROW 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST;  then work 1 DC into next ST.
*Work 2 DC into next ST; then work 1 ST into next ST. Repeat from * all round until end (36 DC); SL ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH

ROW 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST;  then work 1 DC into next 2 STS.
*Work 2 DC into next ST; then work 1 ST into next 2 STS. Repeat from * all round until end (48 DC); SL ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH

ROW 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST;  then then work 1 DC into next 3 STS.
*Work 2 DC into next ST; then work 1 ST into next 3 STS. Repeat from * all round until end (60 DC); SL ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH

Fasten off and weave in ends.

TOP OF ORNAMENT AND BORDER:

Join yarn into any DC with a SC;

ROW 1: Work 1 SC into next 9 STS (10 SC); TURN

ROW 2-5: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end of row (10 SC); TURN

ROW 6: SC2tog x 5 (5 SC) ; TURN

SL ST into each ST across and then  all around coaster. Fasten off and weave in ends.
