Concentration required.
Yarn: Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light
Color – 4 colors – color change indicted in pattern
Hook: 4.00 mm
Size: 23 cm x 23 cm (approx. 9 inches)

Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet
DC – double crochet
TR – treble crochet
COLORS: A – aran; B – blue; C – grey; D – pink
INSTRUCTIONS:
With A
CH 6; SL ST into first CH to form a ring
RND 1: CH 4 (counts as 1 TR); work 4 DC into ring;
work [1 TR; 4 DC] x 3 into ring.
SL ST into 4th CH of 4 CH.
(4 TR; 16 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join B with a SC into any TR.
RND 2: *SKIP next DC; work [2 DC; 1 TR] into next DC;
CH 1; work [1 TR; 2 DC] into next DC;
SKIP next DC; work 1 SC into next TR.
Repeat from * 3 more times; omitting LAST SC and SL ST into first SC made.
(4 x 1 CH spaces; 8 TR; 16 DC and 4 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join C into any SC.
RND 3: CH 4 (counts as 1 TR); work 3 TR into same SC;
*SKIP next 3 STS; work 1 SC into next 1 CH space;
SKIP next 3 STS; work [4 TR; 1 CH; 4 TR] into next SC.
Repeat from * 2 more times; SKIP next 3 STS; work [4 TR; 1 CH] into the first SC; join with a SL ST into the 4th CH of 4 CH.
(4 x 1 CH space; 4 SC; 32 TR)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join D with a SC into any 1 CH space
RND 4: *Work 1 HDC into next TR; work 1 DC into next 2 TR; work 1 TR into next TR;
work [2 TR; 2 CH; 2 TR] into next SC;
work 1 TR into next TR; work 1 DC into next 2 TR; work 1 HDC into next TR;
work 1 SC into next 1 CH space.
Repeat from * 3 more times; omitting last SC; join with a SL ST to first SC made.
(4 x 2 CH spaces; 24 TR; 16 DC; 8 HDC; 4 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join A into 2 CH corner space.
RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into same 2 CH corner space;
work 1 DC into each ST until next 2 CH corner space.

Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space;

SL ST into 1st SC made.
RND 10: CH 1 (please note this does not count as a ST); work 1 SC into each DC of previous round – work 3 SC into each corner; SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Final Stitch Count = 35 SC on each side PLUS 3 SC in each corner
When blocked the Diamonds Granny Square should be approx 9 inches (23 cm).
