Difficulty Level/Skill Required: Easy – Intermediate
Basic stitches in simple variations, simple repeats, color changes, shaping and finishing.
Includes more involved stitch combinations like the popcorn stitch.
You will need to know basic stitches like the DC (double crochet).
Special stitches explained and links to tutorials are provided.

- Yarn – Charity Double Knit Pullskein (100g / 255 yards / 233 meters)
Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light. - Hook – 4.00 mm (G) – Clover
- Scissors
- Yarn needle

Square – 9 x 9 inches (23 x 23 cm)
SPECIAL STITCHES:
CL (cluster): Work 3 DC together –
[yarn around hook; insert into ST; pull yarn thru; yarn around hook; pull thru 2 loops on hook] x 3;
yarn around hook and pull thru all 4 remaining loops on hook.
COLORS: A – aran; B – blue; C – grey; D – pink
INSTRUCTIONS:
With B
CH 6; SL ST into first CH to form a ring
RND 1: CH 1; work 16 SC into ring; SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join C into any SC.
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2 DC into same SC; CH 3; SKIP next SC.
*Work 3 DC into next SC; CH 3; SKIP next SC.
Repeat from * all around.
(8 x 3 DC groups; 8 x 3 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
RND 3: CH 3; work CL over next 3 DC (first DC is into the top of the 3rd CH of the 3 CH of RND 2);
CH 3; SL ST into next 3 CH space; CH 3;
*work CL over next 3 DC; CH 3; SL ST into next 3 CH space; CH 3.
Repeat from * all around. SL ST into first CH of first 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join D into any 3 CH space of RND 2 (see photo)
RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 4 DC into same 3 CH space; work 1 SC into top of next CL.
*Work 5 DC into NEXT 3 CH space; work 1 SC into top of next CL.
Repeat from * all around.
(8 x 5 DC groups = 40 DC ; 8 x SC) = 48 STS
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join A into any 3rd DC (center) of a 5 DC group
RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2 DC into SAME DC;
work 1 DC into next 2 DC; work 1 DC into next SC; work 1 DC into next 2 DC.
*Work 3 DC into next DC (center of next 5 DC group); work 1 DC into next 2 DC; work 1 DC into next SC; work 1 DC into next 2 DC.
Repeat from * all around. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.

Join B into the first DC of any 3 DC group.
RND 6: CH1; work 1 SC into same DC;

Hi – I have fixed the typo in Round 7 – it should be 3 CH in each corner.
The following round have 2 CH in each corner!

Corner 1 has CH 3 turning the corner, but the subsequent corners have CH2 turning the corner. Shouldn’t they all be the same?

You still have an error in RND 6. The first SC in the 7DC should be also 9DC. I love your patterns, I will send you a pic of the finish product with different colors.
