Difficulty Level/Skill Required: Easy – Intermediate
Basic stitches in simple variations, simple repeats, color changes, shaping and finishing.
Includes more involved stitch combinations like the popcorn stitch.
You will need to know basic stitches like the DC (double crochet).

- Yarn – Charity Double Knit Pullskein (100g / 255 yards / 233 meters)
Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light. - Hook – 4.00 mm (G) – Clover
- Scissors
- Yarn needle

Square – 9 x 9 inches (23 x 23 cm)
Special Stitches:
BEG CL: Make 3 CH, then yarn over insert hook into the ring;
yarn over over and pull thru;
yarn over and pull thru first 2 loops ( 2 loops left on hook); yarn over hook; insert hook into ring;
yarn over and pull thru;
yarn over and pull thru first 2 loops (3 loops on hook left); yarn over and pull thru all 3 loops.
CL: Work 3DCtog (work 3 double crochet together)

COLORS: A – aran; B – blue; C – grey; D – pink
INSTRUCTIONS:
With color B
CH 6; SL ST into first CH to form a ring
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 15 DC into ring (16 DC); SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join color C into any DC
RND 2: *CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); CH 1; work 1 DC into SAME ST;
*CH 1; SKIP 1 DC; work [1 DC; 1 CH; 1 DC] into next DC.
Repeat from * 6 more times; CH 1; SKIP 1 DC; SL ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH.
(8 x V-stitch (1 DC; 1 CH; 1 DC) and 8 x 1 CH spaces(
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join color D into any 1 CH space IN-BETWEEN 2 DC (the V-Stitch)
RND 3: Work BEG CL into 1 CH space; CH 5;
*work CL into next V-Stitch 1 CH space; CH 5.
Repeat from * 6 more times; join with a SL ST into top for BEG CL.
(8 x Clusters; 8 x 5 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join color A into 5 CH space.
RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 7 DC into SAME 5 CH space;
*work 8 DC into NEXT 5 CH space.
Repeat from * 6 more times.
(64 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join color B into the FIRST DC of any 8 DC group
RND 5: CH 4 (counts as 1 DC and 1 CH); CH 1; SKIP next DC;
*work 1 DC into next DC; CH 1; SKIP next DC.
Repeat from * until end of round; SL ST into 3rd of 4 CH.
(32 DC and 32 x 1 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join color C into ANY 1 CH space
RND 6: *CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC; 2 CH; 3 DC) into SAME 1 CH space – FIRST corner made.
CH 1; SKIP next [1 DC; 1 CH; 1 DC]; work 3 HDC into next 1 CH space;
