SKILL LEVEL:
Easy
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Approx 20/30 grams of light weight worsted yarn- mixed (leftovers) – yarn color options are indicated in the pattern – the color I used will be highlighted
Note: colors are only a suggestion – any color can be used!
Hooks & Notions:
Hook 3,50 mm (or hook size you are comfortable to work with to make the page pieces)
Yarn needle
Stitch marker
Optional extras:
Ribbon
Hooks & Loops
Press Buttons / Fasteners
Glue On Eyes (10 mm) – or embroidery thread to create eyes.
Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet
DC – double crochet
TR – treble crochet
SC2tog – single crochet 2 stitches together
Notes:
I use US Crochet stitch terminology.
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.
GAUGE:
Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect.
WHAT YOU WILL CROCHET:
Grave (Tomb) and Door; Hill for the Crosses and Sun applique
INSTRUCTIONS:
The Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus
“JESUS WAS BETRAYED, ARRESTED AND SENTENCED TO BE CRUCIFIED. JESUS WAS MOCKED, BEATEN AND SPIT UPON AND WAS CRUCIFIED ON GOLGOTHA. UPON HIS DEATH THE EARTH SHOOK. JESUS’S BODY WAS TAKEN DOWN FOR THE CROSS AND WAS LAID TO REST IN A TOMB WHICH WAS SEALED UP AND GUARDED. AN ANGEL CAME DOWN AND OPENED UP THE TOMB. JESUS ROSE FROM THE DEAD AND WAS GREETED BY MARY MAGDALENE. HE SPOKE TO HIS REMAINING DISCIPLES AND WENT
UP TO HEAVEN.”
GRAVE (TOMB):
With beige/stone yarn
CH 42
ROW 1: work 1 DC into 4th CH from hook; work 1 DC into each CH until end (40 DC); TURN
ROW 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST; work 1 DC into next 3 STS.
*Work 2 DC into next ST; work 1 DC into next 3 STS. Repeat from * until end (50 DC); TURN
ROW 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each DC until end; TURN
ROW 4: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST across (50 SC).
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
SUN APPLIQUE:
With Yellow yarn
Make a magic ring
ROW 1: CH3 (counts as 1 DC), work 7 DC into ring (8 DC); TURN
ROW 2: CH3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST; work 2 DC into each ST until end (16 DC); TURN
ROW 3: CH3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST; work 1 DC into next ST.
*Work 2 DC into next ST; work 1 DC into next ST. Repeat from * until end; (24 DC);
ROW 4: *CH 6; SL ST into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into next 4 CH; SKIP next DC; work 1 SC into next DC. Repeat from * 7 more times;
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
HILL FOR CROSSES:
With brown yarn
Make a magic ring
ROW 1: CH3 (counts as 1 DC), work 7 DC into ring (8 DC); TURN
ROW 2: CH3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST; work 2 DC into each ST until end (16 DC); TURN
ROW 3: CH3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST; work 1 DC into next ST.
*Work 2 DC into next ST; work 1 DC into next ST. Repeat from * until end; (24 DC);
ROW 4-5: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST across (24 SC)
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
DOOR:
With beige/stone yarn
CH 14
ROW 1: work 1 DC into 4th CH from hook; work 1 DC into each CH until LAST CH (11 DC);
work 6 DC into LAST CH; continue working along the bottom of the CH;
work 1 DC into next 11 CH; TURN
ROW 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into next 11 DC; work 2 DC into each of next 4 DC; work 1 DC into next 12 DC; TURN
ROW 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into next 13 DC; work 2 DC into each of next 4 DC; work 1 DC into next 14 DC;
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
