CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

INSTRUCTIONS:
PART SEVEN:
Squares:
Work the 4 squares together – as shown in photo.
DO NOT use a bulky join – I sewed my squares together using the back loops.
The SL ST method is suitable.
The reason for this is that we do not want our squares to suddenly be bigger than the piece it will eventually be added to – then it will warp and pull
NOTE: do remember that 2 squares only have 24 STS and the other 25 STS – so you will have to cheat a little 🙂
Strip:
Working on the one side of the blanket – check photos to see which side;
NOTE: you can change color at any stage – I change after every 2 rows – with the exception of the first color (purple) I worked form ROW 1 to 3.
Start in the CORNER space and work your last SC into the CORNER space – you will SKIP the join between the square and main piece!
ROW 1: work into back-loops (optional) – Work up 125 SC; turn
ROW 2: Work 3 CH (counts as 1 DC or work a STANDING DC ); skip next SC; work V-ST into next SC;
*skip next 2 SC; work V-ST into next SC.**
Repeat from * to ** until 5 STS; skip next 2 SC; work V-ST into next ST; skip next SC; work 1 DC into last DC; turn
ROW 3: Work 3 CH (counts as 1 DC or work a STANDING DC ); *work V- ST into next 1 CH space.**
Repeat from * to ** until last DC; work 1 DC into last DC, turn
change color (optional)
ROW 4: Work 3 CH (counts as 1 DC or work a STANDING DC ); *work 3 DC into next 1 CH space.**
Repeat from * to ** until last DC; work 1 DC into last DC, turn
ROW 5: Work 3 CH (counts as 1 DC or work a STANDING DC ); *work 3 DC into the 2nd (center) DC of 3 DC group**
Repeat from * to ** until last DC; work 1 DC into last DC, turn

Fasten off and weave in all ends.
My piece measures approx 30 inches (76 cm) – but this is with my yarn, hook and tension.
