What you will crochet:
4 x 6 inch (15 cm) squares:
- 4 x Two Toned Granny Square
Rounds 7 and 14 of a 12 inch (30 cm) – only 1 – continued from Part Three
INSTRUCTIONS:
Two Toned Granny Square: Make 4
Colors I used:
- square 1 – D sherbet; C marigold
- square 2 – F mint; E kiwi
- square 3 – H azure; G turquoise
- square 4 – J pomegranate; I watermelon
Takes approx to 30/45 minutes to make one square – depending on skill and how quickly you crochet.
With yarn – Make a magic circle / or CH 6; SL ST to form a circle
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC) or do the Standing DC/ work 2 DC into circle; CH 2;
*work 3 DC; CH 2.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With new yarn join into ANY 2 CH corner space
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC/ or do the STANDING DC – work [2 DC; 2 CH; 3 DC] into same corner space;
CH 1.
*Work [3 DC; 2 CH; 3 DC] into next corner space; CH 1.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With new yarn join into ANY 2 CH corner space
RND 7: *Work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] into 2 CH space; work 1 SC into next 23 DC.**
Repeat from * to ** 3 more times; SL ST into first SC worked.
(25 SC on each side)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
If you count the STITCHES from corner to corner (2 CH space to 2 CH space) you SHOULD have 25 STS.
The square should approx measure 6 inches (15 cm)
Rounds 7 and 14 of a 12 inch (30 cm):
NOTE: if you KNOW you crochet tight – your tension is tight – or you find your circle is making a bucket (pulling/curling up around the edge) – you will NEED to go up a hook size for the NEXT 2 ROUNDS.
Please read the notes for each round regarding this issue!
With color F (mint) – join into any DC before a FPDC
NOTE: regarding tension – if your work is still too tight – the round requires you to SKIP all the 1 CH spaces of the previous round – however for YOU work 1 CH over the 1 CH spaces.
RND 7: – SKIP ALL 1 CH SPACES FOR THIS ROUND – CH 3 (counts as 1 DC/ or do the STANDING DC; work 1 FPDC around next FPDC.
*Work 1 DC into next 2 DC; work 1 FPDC around next FPDC.**
Repeat from * to ** all around; work 1 DC into last DC; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH/or top of Standing DC.
(32 x FPDC; 64 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With color E (kiwi) – join into any ST
NOTE: regarding tension – if your work is still too tight – work 1 CH over the 1 CH spaces.
FOR THIS ROUND ONLY WORK INTO BACK-LOOPS
RND 8: CH 2 (does NOT count as ST); work 1 HDC into starting ST; work 1 HDC into each ST all around;
SL ST into FIRST HDC worked.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
Squaring:
With color D (sherbet) – join into a HDC above a section of consecutive FPDC – see photo –
you will note it is like a long spike from the ‘petal’ point.
NOTE: regarding tension – try to work the 4 CH spaces loosely
