JOINING:

Special Joining: The Flat Slip Stitch Join

Below I have a video tutorial from Blitzy showing how to Flat slip join 2 granny squares – the same method applies to my hexagons. You will use the BACK-LOOPS to join – each hexagon has 13 stitches on each side PLUS a corner stitch. Match up the corner stitches and 13 side stitches of each hexagon.

With C

Using the Flat Slip join ( or your preferred method of joining) – join the last 2 of the half hexagons in the remaining corners – Note: you will join only 2 sides.

With C

You will have 2 flat sides (left & right and 2 wavy sides (bottom & top)

Concentration is required for next section!

NOTE: corners are worked into the corner SC of a hexagon – you will start on a flat side corner – which will be a FULL hexagon.

RND 1: Starting in the corner of a flat side – work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] for corner; *work 14 SC across first hexagon (full); (work 1 SC before join and 1 SC after join; work 15 SC across next hexagon) 5 times; work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] for corner.
Wavy edge – work 14 SC across first hexagon (half); (work 1 SC before join and 1 SC after join; work 29 SC across next hexagon) 4 times; work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] for corner.**
Repeat from * to ** once more; SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With A – join into any 2 CH corner at the start of a Flat side.

RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner space; work 1 DC into each SC across first flat side; work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next corner space; work 1 DC into next 13 SC; *(work 3DCtog over next 3 STS) twice; work 1 DC into next 11 SC; work 3DCtog over next 3 STS; work 1 DC into next 11 SC.**
Repeat from * to ** 3 more times.
Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next corner space; work 1 DC into each SC across first flat side; work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next corner space; work 1 DC into next 13 SC; *(work 3DCtog over next 3 STS) twice; work 1 DC into next 11 SC; work 3DCtog over next 3 STS; work 1 DC into next 11 SC.**
Repeat from * to ** 3 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH. Fasten off and weave in ends.

With B – join into any 2 CH corner at the start of a Flat side.

Special Stitch – Bobble: CH 4; work 3DCtog into 4 CH from hook; SL ST into 4th CH.

RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner space; #(work 1 FPDC around next DC; work 1 DC into next DC) x 51; work 1 FPDC around next DC.
Work [ 2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next corner space; work 1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; 1 TR into next 4 STS;
work [2 TR; Bobble; 2 TR] into next ST; work 1 TR; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC into next 4 STS;
work 1 SC into next ST;
*work 1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; 1 TR into next 4 STS; work [ 2 TR; Bobble] into next ST; work 2 TR into next ST;
work 1 TR; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC into next 4 STS; work 1 SC into next 3 STS;
work 1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; 1 TR into next 4 STS;
work [2 TR; Bobble; 2 TR] into next ST; work 1 TR; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC into next 4 STS;
work 1 SC into next 3 STS.**
Repeat from * to ** 3 more times;
work 1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; 1 TR into next 4 STS;
work [2 TR; Bobble; 2 TR] into next ST; work 1 TR; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC into next 4 STS.##
