Beach Blues Cal Section Four – Free Crochet Along

Supplies/Materials:

  • Yarn – Vinnis Colours Nikkim (cotton yarn) – approx 65 – 70 yards (70 – 80 meters)
    (colors listed in pattern); Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light.
  • Hook – 3, 50 mm (E) – I used Clover
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)

Gauge:
However gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
However COUNTING your stitches will ensure a true success of this project!

Remember – if you use/choose a different yarn weight/hook size your blanket will be a different size!

Pattern Notes:
Remember you can use any colors you like! This is also a super project for using leftover yarns!

My colors:
2 x 50 g Natural
2 x 50 g Steel Grey
2 X 50 g Aluminium
1 x 50 g Purple Blue
1 x 50 g Blue Bell
1 x 50 g Deep Blue

Instructions:

NB: take NOTE on the RS – right side and WS – wrong side and your stitch count!

Section 4:

With Purple-Blue (approx 30 g)

Special Stitch:
Cross Stitch:
SKIP ST;  work 1 DC into next ST; crossing in front of DC just worked; work 1 DC into last SKIPPED ST.

Note: the CH 3 at the start of Row 33 is also your turning chain for Row 34.

Join new yarn into first SC on the (RS) – Right Side – Front.

(RS) Row 32: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (120 SC); TURN.
Row 33: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); SKIP first 2 SC; work Cross Stitch until end; work 1 DC into last SC. TURN
Row 34: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work Cross Stitch into next Cross Stitch until end; work 1 DC into turning CH. TURN.
Row 35; 36 and 37: Repeat Row 34.
(RS) Row 38: CH 1; work 1 SC into each DC across (120 SC).
Fasten off and weave in ends.
