Elongated Single Crochet Stitch Tutorial Washcloth – Free Crochet Pattern
- Yarn – Nurturing Fibres Eco-Cotton DK (cotton yarn) – approx 80/85 yards (75/80 meters) – 30/35 grams; Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light.
- Hook – 3, 50 mm (E) – I used Clover
- Yarn needle
Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
With yarn listed and 3, 50 mm (E) hook final washcloth should measure 9 ½ inches in width and 9 inches in length (24 x 23 cm).
However gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect
Washcloth – 9 ½ inches in width and 9 inches in length (24 x 23 cm).
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.
ROW 1: work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into each CH until end (34 SC); TURN
ROW 2: CH 1; insert hook into first SC; yarn over; pull thru; yarn over; pull thru FIRST loop on hook; yarn over; pull thru 2 loops on hook. *Insert hook into next SC; yarn over; pull thru; yarn over; pull thru FIRST loop on hook; yarn over; pull thru 2 loops on hook.**
Repeat from * to ** until end; TURN.
Repeat ROW 2 twenty four (24) more times.
Last ROW: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST across (34 SC).
Fasten off and weave in ends.
