Cute Crochet Egg Coasters – Free Crochet Pattern
Supplies/Materials:
- Yarn – Vinnis Colours Nikkim (cotton yarn) – approx 26 yards (24 meters) for one coasters and approx 10 yards for edging (8 meters); Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light.
- Hook – 3, 50 mm (E) – I used Clover
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
Gauge:
With yarn listed and 3, 50 mm (E) hook final coaster should measure 3 ½ inches in width (widest part) and 5 inches in length (10 x 13 cm).
However gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect
Finished Size:
Coaster – 3 ½ inches in width (widest part) and 5 inches in length (10 x 13 cm).
Pattern Notes:
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.
Instructions:
Coasters:
CH 9
ROW 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into each CH (8 SC); TURN.
ROW 2: CH 1; work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next 6 SC; work 2 SC into last SC (10 SC); TURN
ROW 3: CH 1; work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next 8 SC; work 2SC into last SC (12 SC); TURN
ROW 4: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (12 SC); TURN
ROW 5: CH 1; work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next 10 SC; work 2 SC into last SC (14 SC); TURN
ROW 6-12: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (14 SC); TURN
ROW 13: CH 1; work 2SCtog; work 1 SC into next 10; SC2tog (12 SC);
ROW 14: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (12 SC); TURN
ROW 15: CH 1; work 2SCtog; work 1 SC into next 8; SC2tog (10 SC);
ROW 16: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (10 SC); TURN
ROW 17: CH 1; work 2SCtog; work 1 SC into next 6; SC2tog (8 SC);
ROW 18: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (8 SC); TURN
ROW 19: CH 1; work 2SCtog; work 1 SC into next 4; SC2tog (6 SC);
ROW 20: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (6 SC); TURN
ROW 21: CH 1; work 2SCtog; work 1 SC into next 2; SC2tog (4 SC);
ROW 22: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (4 SC); TURN
ROW 23: DO NOT CH 1; SKIP first SC; work [1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC] into each of next SC; work [1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC] into next SC; SL ST into last SC.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Crab Stitch all around for edging.
