Abbreviations:  US Terminology

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

Instructions:

NB: take NOTE on the RS – right side and WS – wrong side and your stitch count!

Section 10:

With Deep Blue (approx 35 g)

Special Stitch:
Cross Stitch:
SKIP ST;  work 1 DC into next ST; crossing in front of DC just worked; work 1 DC into last SKIPPED ST.

Note: the CH 3 at the start of Row 88 is also your turning chain for Row 89.

Join new yarn into first SC on the (RS) – Right Side – Front.

(RS) Row 86: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (120 SC); TURN.
Row 87: CH 1; work 1 SC into first SC; **CH 2; SKIP next 2 SC; work 1 SC into next 2 SC.**
Repeat from * to ** until last 3 SC; CH 2; SKIP next 2 SC; work 1 SC into last SC; TURN.

Row 88: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); *work 2 DC into 2 CH space; CH 2; SKIP next 2 SC.** Repeat from * to ** until last
3 stitches; work 2 DC into 2 CH space; work 1 DC into last SC.

Row 89: CH 1; work 1 SC into first DC; *work 1 SC into next 2 DC; work Cross Stitch into previous row SKIPPED 2 SC.** Repeat from * to ** until end; work 1 SC into turning CH.
Row 90: CH 1; work 1 SC into first SC; *CH 2; SKIP next 2 SC; work 1 SC into next 2 DC (Cross Stitch).**
Repeat from * to ** until end; work 1 SC into last SC.
Row 91 and 94: Repeat Row 88.
Row 92 and 95: Repeat Row 89.
Row 93 and 96: Repeat Row 90.
Row 97: CH 1; (work 1 SC into each SC and 2 SC into each 2 CH space) until end (120 SC); TURN.
(RS) Row 98: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (120 SC).
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Border:

With Natural (approx 35 g)

Join new yarn into first SC on the (RS) – Right Side – Front.

(RS) Round 1: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (120 SC); CH 3 for corner; continue down side;
work 120 SC up as follows:
1 SC for corner;
13 SC for Section 10;
10 SC for Section 9;
10 SC for Section 8;
15 SC for Section 7;
10 SC for Section 6;
13 SC for Section 5;
12 SC for Section 4;
12 SC for Section 3;
10 SC for Section 2;
13 SC for Section 1;
1 SC for corner;
Total : 120 SC.
CH 3 for corner; work 120 SC across foundation chain; CH 3 for corner.
Repeat instructions for other side but in reverse – starting at Section 1.
CH 3 for corner; SL ST into first SC worked.

Round 2: Work into Back-loops only – (work 1 HDC into each SC across; work [1 HDC; CH 2; 1 HDC] into 3 CH corner space) x 4; SL ST into first HDC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Aluminium (approx 25 g)

Join new yarn into any 2 CH corner space;

Round 3: (work [1 HDC; 2 CH; 1 HDC] into corner space; work into 3^rd loop only (back-loop) – work 1 HDC into each HDC across) x 4; SL ST into first HDC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Steel Grey (approx 35 g)

Join new yarn into any 2 CH corner space;

Round 4: (work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner space; work into 3^rd loop only (back-loop) – work 1 DC into each HDC across) x 4; SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
