This Tasi Flurry Crochet Square is part of the Crochet A Block squares throw crochet along.
Crochet 25 squares – each different and unique to make a beautiful throw.
Tasi: Means “ocean” in Chamorro language

Tasi Flurry Crochet Square – Free Crochet Pattern
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Supplies/Materials:
- Yarn – Vinnis Colours Nikkim (cotton yarn) – approx 130 yards (119 meters) (colors listed in Pattern Notes); Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light.
- Hook – 4. 00 mm (G) – I used Clover
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE:
Easy/Intermediate – Basic stitches, with some special stitches – video tutorial available.
Special Stitches noted in the instructions.
Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
PATTERN NOTES:
Gauge:
Gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
However if you use a different yarn and hook sizing will differ.
Finished Size:
Approx. 9 inch (23 cm)
Colors:
- A – Natural (6g)
- B – Sand/Baby Yellow (9g)
- C – Pale Sage/Ballet Pink (6g)
- D – Pale Blue Green/Pink (7g)
- E – Kingfisher/Raspberry (8g)
- F – Golden Brown/Old Gold (4g)
- G – Peacock/Aubergine (9g)
Instructions:
NOTE:
RNDS 3 – 7 will cause the center to twist slightly – this is correct!
With A – make a magic ring/or CH 6; SL ST to form a ring.
Note: CH 3 – counts as 1 DC in every round – OR you can do a Standing DC.
RND 1: CH 3; work 11 DC into ring; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH. (12 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join B into any DC.
RND 2: CH 3; work 1 DC into same DC; work 2 DC into each DC all around; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(24 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join C into any DC.
Special Stitch:
5DCtog: Work 5 double crochet stitches together into same DC.
Special Stitch – 5DCtog:
Step 1: yarn over, insert hook into stitch , yarn over draw yarn through (3 loops)
Step 2: yarn over insert hook into same stitch, yarn over draw through 2 loops (4 loops)
Step 3: yarn over insert hook into same stitch, yarn over draw through 2 loops (5 loops)
Step 4: yarn over insert hook into same stitch, yarn over draw through 2 loops (6 loops)
Step 5: yarn over draw yarn through all 6 loops on hook, CH 1 to lock.
RND 3: CH 3; work 1 DC into next 4 DC; CH 2; work 5DCtog into next DC; CH 2.
*Work 1 DC into next 5 DC; CH 2; work 5DCtog into next DC; CH 2.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(5 DC on each side = 20 DC; 8 x 2 CH spaces; 4 x 5Dctog)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join D into any DC AFTER a 5DCtog.
Special Stitch:
FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet
RND 4: CH 3; work 1 DC into next 4 DC; work 2 DC into next 2 CH space; work 1 FPDC around next 5DCtog; work 2 DC into next 1 CH space.
* Work 1 DC into next 5 DC; work 2 DC into next 2CH space; work 1 FPDC around next 5DCtog; work 2 DC into next 2 CH space.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(9 DC on each side = 36 DC; 4 x FPDC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join E into DC AFTER a FPDC.
RND 5: CH 3; work 1 DC into next 8 DC; CH 2; work 5DCtog into next FPDC; CH 2.
