Snazzy Color Crochet Scarf – Free Crochet Pattern

Supplies/Materials:

  • Yarn – Moya Snugs Weight: Aran – Color: Affinity 1 x ball 150g (330m) – one ball is enough to make a child size scarf.
  • Hook – H (5, 00m) Clover
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)

Gauge:
Gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.

Finished Size:
Approx 7 inches (18 cm) in width & 46  inches (115 cm) in length with my hook, yarn and tension- Fits Child, but can be twisted, edges sewed together to make a lovely cowl.

Pattern Notes:
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.

Instructions:

This stitch pattern works up in a multiple of 2.

Note: if you have a very tight tension – you might want to substitute the SL ST at the end of a HDC, or work your CH 2 and SL ST’s very loosely.

With yarn CH 25

ROW 1: work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into each CH until end, TURN (24 SC)

ROW 2: CH 2 (this counts as 1 HDC); *SKIP next SC; work [1 SC; 1 HDC] into next SC.**
Repeat from * to ** until last SC; SL ST into last SC; TURN

ROW 3: CH 2; (this counts as 1 HDC); *SKIP next HDC; work [1 SC; 1 HDC] into next SC.**
Repeat from * to ** until last ST; SL ST into 2 CH; TURN

Repeat ROW 3 for desired length.
LAST ROW: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST across (24 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
