Scrapstopia Crochet Blanket Section Two
– Free Crochet Along –
Supplies/Materials:
- Yarn –Vinnis Colours Nikkim (cotton yarn) assortment of colors and grams.
Weight – DK (11 wpi) - Hook – 3, 50 mm (E) – Clover
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
RS – right side
WS- wrong side
Gauge:
Not necessary for this project to be perfect.
However if you use a different yarn and/or hook sizing will differ.
Pattern Notes:
Stitch count is important!
Using the same type of yarn throughout the project is recommended. But if you are adventurous you can mix it up! The pattern suggests Cotton DK yarn but you are not limited to this type of yarn. Any yarn can be used as long as you take into consideration your sizing for the project will differ.

Instructions:
Section 2:
The colors I used:
Little Flower Square Motif
Size: 3 inches / 8 cm
Yarn usage:
approx 5 grams for complete square; 2g – 1st and 3rd colors; 1g – 2nd color.
Special Stitch:
Cluster: 4DCtog into SAME ST/SP – work 4 double crochet together into the same stitch or space.
Front Post Double Crochet:
Yarn over, insert your hook from front to back to front around the post of the next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull thru 2 loops on your hook, yarn, and pull thru remaining two loops on your hook.
Note: for this motif you will be working the FPDC around the Cluster from the previous round.
With 1st Color – CH 4, SL ST into first CH to form a ring/ or make a magic circle.
RND 1: CH 3(counts as 1 DC); work 3DCtog into ring; CH 3; *work Cluster into ring; CH 3.**
Repeat from * to ** 4 more times; SL ST into top of 3DCtog. (6 Clusters; 6 x 3 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With a 2nd Color – Join into any 3 CH space.
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 4 DC into same 3 CH space; work FPDC around next Cluster.
*Work 5 DC into next 3 CH space; work FPDC around next Cluster.**
Repeat from * to ** 4 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH. (30 DC; 6 FPDC = 36STS)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With a 3rd Color – Join into any FPDC ST.
RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 HDC into next 2 STS; work 1 SC into next 4 STS; work 1 HDC into next 2 STS.
*Work [1 DC; 2 CH; 1 DC] into next ST; work 1 HDC into next 2 STS; work 1 SC into next 4 STS; work 1 HDC into next 2 STS.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; work [1 DC; 2 CH] into FIRST ST worked; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH. (40 STS)
RND 4: CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC); work 1 HDC into next 9 STS; work [2 HDC; 2 CH; 2 HDC] into 2 CH corner space.
*Work 1 HDC into next 10 STS; work [2 HDC; 2 CH; 2 HDC] into 2 CH corner space.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 2nd of 2 CH. (56 STS)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Triangle Motif
Make 2 of each color combo = Total 4 triangles
Size: 3 inches / 8 cm from point to point
Yarn usage:
approx 4 grams for complete square; 2g – 1st and 2nd colors.
With 1st Color – CH 4, SL ST into first CH to form a ring/ or make a magic circle.
RND 1: CH 1; work 4 HDC; *CH 2; work 4 HDC.**
Repeat from * to ** once more; CH 2; SL ST into first HDC worked. (12 HDC, 3 x 2 CH)
RND 2: CH 1; work 1 HDC into SAME HDC; work 1 SC into next 2 HDC; work 1 HDC into next HDC; work [1 HDC; 2 CH; 1 HDC] into next 2 CH space.
*Work 1 HDC into next HDC; work 1 SC into next 2 HDC; work 1 HDC into next HDC; work [1 HDC; 2 CH; 1 HDC] into next 2 CH space.** (18 STS – 3 x 2 CH)
Repeat from * to ** once more; SL ST into first HDC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With a 2nd Color – Join into any 2 CH corner space.
RND 3: CH 1; work [2 HDC; 2 CH; 2 HDC] into corner space; work 1 HDC into next 6 STS.
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into first HDC worked. (30 STS)
RND 4: CH 1; work; 1 HDC into SAME HDC; work 1 HDC into next HDC; *work [2 HDC; 2 CH; 2 HDC] into corner space; work 1 HDC into next 10 STS.**
Repeat from * to ** once more; work [2 HDC; 2 CH; 2 HDC] into corner space; work 1 HDC into next 8 STS ; SL ST into first HDC worked. (42 STS)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
At the end of this section you should have a total of 8 Squares and 4 Triangles!
AFTER SECTION 1 AND 2 YOU SHOULDE HAVE A TOTAL OF 16 X 3 INCH (8 CM) SQUARES AND 12 X TRIANGLES!
