This small crochet flower gift bag is a quick and easy gift bag adorned with a flower.

Easy
Basic stitches in simple variations, simple repeats, color changes, shaping and finishing.
You will need to know basic stitches like SC (single crochet) and DC (double crochet).
Special stitches explained and provided in the instructions.
Materials
- Hook – 3,00 mm
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Yarn:
Scheepjes Catona – 100% cotton (45 grams/125 meters/120 yards)
Weight – Fingering (14 wpi).
Colors:
- A Lime (512) – 1 x 25g
- B Fresia (519) – 1 x 10g
- C Candle Light (101) – 1 x 10g
Yarn Substitute:
Using the same type of yarn throughout the project is recommended. The pattern suggests Fingering yarn (Weight – Fingering (14 wpi) 1: Super Fine), but you are not limited to this type of yarn. Any yarn can be used if you take into consideration your sizing for the project will differ.
Tension | Gauge
Gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
Size
Bag lying flat: Approx. Length = 4 inch / 10 cm Width = 4 inches / 10 cm
Flower: Approx. 2 ½ inches x 2 ½ inches (7 x 7 cm)
Remember – if you use/choose a different yarn weight/hook size your gift bag will be a different size!

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

INSTRUCTIONS:
Gift Bag:
With A – make a magic ring/or CH 4; SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form a ring.
Rnd 1: CH 2 (does not count as a ST); work 12 DC into ring; SL ST to first DC worked. (12 DC).
Rnd 2: CH 2 (counts as first DC); work 1 DC into SAME DC; work 2 DC into each DC all around; SL ST into top of 2 CH. (24 DC)
RND 3: CH 2 (counts as first DC); work 1 DC into SAME DC; work 2 DC into each DC all around; SL ST into top of 2 CH. (48 DC)
RND 4: For this round only – work into the back loops.
CH 2 (counts as first DC); work 1 DC into each DC all around; SL ST into top of 2 CH. (48 DC)
RND 5 – 12: CH 2 (counts as first DC); work 1 DC into each DC all around; SL ST into top of 2 CH. (48 DC)
RND 13: CH 1; work 1 SC into each DC all around. (48 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Flower:
With C – make a magic ring/or CH 4; SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form a ring.
RND 1: Work 16 SC into ring; SL ST into first SC worked. (16 SC)
RND 2: CH 5 (counts as 1 DC and 2 CH space); *SKIP next SC; work 1 DC into next DC; CH 2. **
Repeat from * to ** 6 more times; SL ST into the 3rd CH of 5 CH.
(8 DC; 8 x 2 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With B– join into any 2 CH space with a SC.
RND 3: Work [1 DC; 1 TR; 1 DC; 1 SC] into same CH space. *Work [1 SC; 1 DC; 1 TR; 1 DC; 1 SC] into next 2 CH space. ** Repeat from * to ** 6 more times; SL ST into first SC worked.
(8 Petals)
Note: for the next round you will be working behind the previous round of flowers.
Your FIRST DC post is the DC stitch in-between two petals and directly before and below your SC.
RND 4: Work a SL ST around the DC post of RND 2; CH 4.
*SL ST around next RND 2 DC post; CH 4. ** Repeat from * to ** 6 more times; SL ST into first 4 CH space. (8 x 4 CH spaces; 8 x SL ST’s)
RND 5: Work [1 SC; 1 DC; 2 TR; 1 DC; 1 SC] into 4 CH space.
*Work [1 SC; 1 DC; 2 TR; 1 DC; 1 SC] into next 4 CH space. **
Repeat from * to ** 6 more times; SL ST into first SC worked.
(8 Petals) Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Drawstring:
Note: Leave a long beginning and end tails. Use them to tie knots and/or add beads at the ends after weaving chain through the bag.
With C – CH 100 and then fasten off.
Assembling:
- Attach flower to the centre of the bag.
- Weave the drawstring through the third round from the top (2nd DC round).
- Tie a knot and/or weave in bead at each end.
