INSTRUCTIONS

With H – join into any SC worked into TR SC with a SC– see photo – this is important for the next round to be worked correctly.

Note: the TR SC is the RND 21 SC worked into a RND 20 TR.

RND 22: Work 1 SC into each of next 10 SC; CH 4; SL ST into 1st SKIPPED SL ST of RND 19see photo Note: keep yarn in front to work – CH 4.
*Work 1 SC into each of next 11 SC; CH 4; SL ST into 1st SKIPPED SL ST of RND 19; CH 4. **
Repeat from * to ** 16 more times; SL ST into first SC worked. (198 SC; 18 x CH 4-VST’s)

Note: Each CH 2 is worked over the CH 4-VST’s.

RND 23: Work 1 SC into joined SC; work 1 SC into each of next 10; CH 2.
*Work 1 SC into each of next 11 SC; CH 2. ** Repeat from * to ** all around.
(198 SC; 18 x 2 CH spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.

Note: For the following round you will work into the back-loops of each SC.
Tip: check your stitch count – the first SC could be hidden behind the popcorn just worked.

With E – join into any 2 CH space.

RND 24: Work Starting HDC Popcorn (Special Stitches) into 2 CH space; CH 3; work 1 SC into each of the next 11 SC; CH 3. *Work HDC Popcorn into next 2 CH space; CH 3; work 1 SC into each of the next 11 SC; CH 3. ** Repeat from * to ** all around; SL ST into top of starting popcorn. (198 SC; 18 x HDC Popcorns; 36 x 3 CH spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.

With I – join into the 6th (CENTER) SC of a 11 SC group (between Popcorns) with a SC.

RND 25: *Work 5 TR into next 3 CH space; work 1 FPTR around next Popcorn; work 5 TR into next 3 CH space; SKIP next 5 SC; work 1 SC into next SC; SKIP next 5 SC. **
Repeat from * to ** all around (x 16). Work 5 TR into next 3 CH space; work 1 FPTR around next Popcorn; work 5 TR into next 3 CH space; SKIP next 5 SC; work 1 SC into first SC worked.
(18 SC; 18 x Fans/Shells = 5 TR; 1 FPTR; 5 TR) Fasten off and weave in ends.

 

With A – join into any SC.

RND 26: CH 12; *work 1 SC into next SC; CH 12. ** Repeat from * to ** all around (x 17); SL ST into first SC worked. (18 SC; 18 x 12 CH spaces)

Note: For the following round you will work into each single 12 CH Stitch and not the space below the 12 CH.

RND 27: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each of the next 6 CH stitches; work 1 FPDC around next FPTR; work 1 DC into each of the next 6 CH stitches.
*Work 1 DC into next SC; work 1 DC into each of the next 6 CH stitches; work 1 FPDC around next FPTR; work 1 DC into each of the next 6 CH stitches. **
Repeat from * to ** all around (x 16); SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(12 CH STS = 216 DC; 18 FPDC = 234 + 18 DC = Final Stitch Count = 252 STS)

With my yarn, hook and tension my mandala measures approx. 41 cm / 16 inches before squaring round.

Note: Please check your stitch count – it important for the next Squaring Rounds.

RND 28: CH 4 (counts as 1 TR); work [1 TR; 2 CH; 2 TR] into SAME ST; work 1 TR into each of next 5 STS; work 1 DC into each of next 5 STS; work 1 HDC into each of next 10 STS; work 1 SC into each of next 22 STS; work 1 HDC into each of next 10 STS; work 1 DC into each of next 5 STS; work 1 TR into each of next 5 STS.
*Work [2 TR; 2 CH; 2 TR] into next ST; work 1 TR into each of next 5 STS; work 1 DC into each of next 5 STS; work 1 HDC into each of next 10 STS; work 1 SC into each of next 22 STS; work 1 HDC into each of next 10 STS; work 1 DC into each of next 5 STS; work 1 TR into each of next 5 STS.** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 4th of 4 CH.
(66 STS on each side; 4 x 2 CH corner spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.

With H – join into FIRST TR of a RND 25 Fan/Shell with a SC.

Picot: CH 3; SL ST into 3rd CH from hook.

SPECIAL RND: Work 1 SC into each of next 4 TR; work 1 FPSC around next RND 27 FPDC; work Picot; work 1 SC into each of next 5 TR; work 1 FPSC around RND 26 SC; work Picot.
* Work 1 SC into each of next 5 TR; work 1 FPSC around next RND 27 FPDC; work Picot; work 1 SC into each of next 5 TR; work 1 FPSC around RND 26 SC; work Picot. ** Repeat from * to ** all around (x 16); SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
