INSTRUCTIONS

Granny Join:

Note: RND 3 is the final round for each square and is the joining round.

Starting with square 1.

With A – join into any 2 CH corner space.

RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1.
*Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1 ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH. (13 DC; 4 x 1 CH spaces on each side) Fasten off and weave in ends.

Squares 2/3/4/5/6/11/16 and 21:

With A – join into any 2 CH corner space.

RND 3: Side one – CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1.
Side two – Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner space; *CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1 **

Note: To join SL ST into the 1 CH space of the opposite square.
For the corners – follow the instructions in the pattern – SL ST into corner space of opposite square.

Joining side: Work [2 DC; CH 1; SL ST; 2 DC] into corner space; SL ST; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; SL ST; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; SL ST; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; SL ST.
Work [2 DC; SL ST; CH 1; 2 DC] into corner space.
Side four – Repeat from * to ** once more. SLST into 3rd of 3 CH. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Remaining squares:

With A – join into any 2 CH corner space.
Note: For the corners – follow the instructions in the pattern – SL ST into ALL 3 corner spaces of opposite squares.

RND 3: Side one – CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1.
Joining side: Work [2 DC; CH 1; SL ST; 2 DC] into corner space; SL ST; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; SL ST; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; SL ST; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; SL ST.
Work [2 DC; SL ST; CH 1; 2 DC] into corner space.
Joining side: SL ST; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; SL ST; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; SL ST; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; SL ST.
Work [2 DC; SL ST; CH 1; 2 DC] into corner space.
Side four
– CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1. SLST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
