Granny Clover Mini Crochet Square

SKILL LEVEL:

Easy
Basic stitches in simple variations, simple repeats, color changes, shaping and finishing.

You will need to know basic stitches like SC (single crochet) and DC (double crochet).
Special stitches explained and provided in the instructions.

MATERIALS:

  • Hook – 3,50 mm (E)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Yarn:

Elle Pure Gold Double Knit (100g / 284 yards / 258 meters)
Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light. – Approx. 7g grams / 28.4 yards / 25.8 meters

• A – Sunflower- 1g
• B – Ivory – 2g
• C – Teal – 4g

TENSION/GAUGE:

Gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
However COUNTING your stitches will ensure true success of this project!

SIZE:

Approx. 4 inches/10 cm

Remember – if you use/choose a different yarn weight/hook size your square will be a different size!

SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)

INSTRUCTIONS:

With A – make a magic ring/or CH 4; SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form a ring.

RND 1: CH 2; work2DCtog; CH 4.
*Work 3DCtog; CH 4. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into top of 2DCtog.
(4 x Clusters; 4 x 4 CH spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.

With B – join into the top of ANY cluster with a SL ST.

RND 2: *Work 9 TR into next 4 CH space; SL ST into next Cluster. **
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; work 9 TR into next 4 CH space; SL ST into first SL ST.
(4 x 9TR Petals = 36 STS; 4 x SL STS) Fasten off and weave in ends.

NOTE: For next round work into the BACKLOOPS of each stitch.

With C – join into the 5th TR (central of 9 TR Petal) with a SC.

RND 3: Work [CH 2; SC] into SAME TR; work 1 SC into each of next 2 TR; work 1 HDC into next TR; work 1 DC into next TR; SKIP next SL ST.
*Work 1 DC into next TR; work 1 HDC into next TR; work 1 SC into each of next 2 TR; work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] into next TR; work 1 SC into each of next 2 TR; work 1 HDC into next TR; work 1 DC into next TR; SKIP next SL ST. **
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; work 1 DC into next TR; work 1 HDC into next TR; work 1 SC into each of next 2 TR; SL ST into first SC worked.
(10 STS on each side = 40 STS; 4 x 2 CH corner spaces)

RND 4: SL ST into next 2 CH space; CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC; CH 2; 3 DC] into same space; SKIP next 2 STS; work 3 DC into next ST; SKIP next 2 STS; work 3 DC into SPACE between 2 DC; SKIP next 2 STS; work 3 DC into next ST; SKIP next 2 STS.
*Work [3 DC; CH 2; 3 DC] into same space; SKIP next 2 STS; work 3 DC into next ST; SKIP next 2 STS; work 3 DC into SPACE between 2 DC; SKIP next 2 STS; work 3 DC into next ST; SKIP next 2 STS. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(15 DC on each side; 4 x 2 CH corner spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
