Granny Sunflower Mini Crochet Square

This sweet little granny sunflower mini crochet square is quick, fun, and perfect for using up
those leftover bits of yarn hiding in your stash.

Granny Sunflower Mini Crochet Square

SKILL LEVEL:

Easy
Basic stitches in simple variations, simple repeats, color changes, shaping and finishing.

You will need to know basic stitches like SC (single crochet) and DC (double crochet).
Special stitches explained and provided in the instructions.

MATERIALS:

• Hook – 3,50 mm (E)
• Scissors
• Yarn needle

Yarn:

Elle Pure Gold Double Knit (100g / 284 yards / 258 meters)
Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light. – Approx. 10g grams / 28.4 yards / 25.8 meters

• A – Ivory – 4g
• B – Sunflower – 2g
• C – Bamboo – 3g

TENSION/GAUGE:

Gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
However COUNTING your stitches will ensure true success of this project!

SIZE:

Approx. 4 inches/10 cm

Remember – if you use/choose a different yarn weight/hook size your square will be a different size!

Abbreviations:  US Terminology

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

INSTRUCTIONS:

With A – make a magic ring/or CH 4; SL ST into 4^th CH from hook to form a ring.

RND 1: CH 2 (does NOT count as a ST); work 12 DC into ring; SL ST into first DC worked.
(12 DC) Fasten off and weave in ends.

Note: For next round work into BACKLOOPS only.

With B – join into ANY DC.

RND 2: CH 4; work 2TRtog into SAME DC; CH 1. *Work 3TRtog into next DC; CH 1. **
Repeat from * to ** 10 more times; SL ST into top of 2TR.
(12 TR Clusters; 12 x 1 CH spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.

With C – join into ANY 1 CH space.

RND 3: CH 4 (counts as 1 TR); work [2 TR; CH 2; 3 TR] into SAME 1 CH space; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space.
*Work [3 TR; CH 2; 3 TR] into next 1 CH space; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 4^th of 4 CH.
(6 TR; 2 x 3 DC groups on each side (12 STS); 4 x 2 CH corner spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With A – join into ANY corner 2 CH space.

RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC; CH 2; 3 DC] into SAME corner space;
SKIP next 3 TR; work 3 DC into space between TR and next DC;
SKIP next 3 DC; work 3 DC into space between DC and next DC;
SKIP next 3 DC; work 3 DC into space between DC and next TR.
*Work [3 DC; CH 2; 3 DC] into next corner space;
SKIP next 3 TR; work 3 DC into space between TR and next DC;
SKIP next 3 DC; work 3 DC into space between DC and next DC;
SKIP next 3 DC; work 3 DC into space between DC and next TR.
(15 DC on each side; 4 x 2 CH corner spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
