With first color;

CH 4; SL ST to form a ring OR make a magic ring;

This part is worked in CONTINUOUS ROUNDS – you will need a Stitch Marker to help you keep track of your rounds.

Note: if you have not worked with a Stitch Marker before – you will place the marker into the LAST SC of each round – removing it to work the last SC and then marking that SC to continue on to the next round.

RND 1: CH 1(this does NOT count as a stitch) – work 6 SC into ring;
FOR THE NEXT 5 ROUNDS – WORK INTO BACK LOOP ONLY;

Fasten off and weave in ends.

OPTIONAL – Surface Slip Stitching the Center of the Heart!
Note
– you will need to keep your tension loose – otherwise the center will for a very tight bowl – it should form a bowl slightly – however it can flatten when pressed.

The Fronts Loops that were created when working the first 5 rounds in Back Loops are your guide.

  • First create your slip knot on your hook; then remove your hook;
  • Starting at the Center – you will insert your hook from FRONT TO BACK just behind the first loop;

  • Insert your hook into your slip knot;

  • Pull it thru to the front;
  • Insert your hook behind the next loop (FRONT TO BACK);
  • Yarn over; pull thru (BACK TO FRONT);

  • Pull yarn thru the loop on your hook (SL ST created);

These are your REPEAT INSTRUCTIONS to complete the Surface SL ST all around the Center.

  • Insert hook behind the NEXT FRONT LOOP (front to back);
  • Yarn over; pull thru (back to front);
  • Pull thru loop on hook

After LAST SL ST is worked; cut; yarn; pull thru; then pull yarn from Front to Back and weave in tails at the back.
