Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
Concentration required.

Yarn: Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light – I used cotton yarn – check the main introduction page!

Hook: 4,00 mm (G)

Size: 23 cm x 23 cm (approx. 9 inches)

Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect

I use US Crochet stitch terminology

Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet
DC – double crochet
TR – treble crochet
BLP – back loop

SPECIAL STITCHES:

Clusters – 3DCtog – 3 double crochet together – into same space or stitch.

Starting Popcorn for THIS pattern: CH 3; work 2 DC into SAME chain space; remove hook into 3rd chain of 3 chain; then into LAST DC (2) and SL ST together.

3 DC Popcorn – work 3 DC into SAME chain space; remove hook insert into FIRST DC (1); then into LAST DC (3) and SL ST together.

Colors: – the colors in () are the old colors for those continuing in the first color sequence

• Natural – color A (B)
• Seafoam – color B (E/A)
• Pomegranate – color C (D)
• Fern – color D (F/G)
• Taupe – color E (C)

INSTRUCTIONS:

With Color A

CH 8; SL ST into first CH to form a ring

RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2DCtog; CH 2.
*Work Cluster; CH 2.** Repeat from * to ** 6 more times.
SL ST into top of 2DCtog.
(8 x Clusters)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With color C; join into any 2 CH space

NOTE: check special stitches section for this round

RND 2: Work Starting Popcorn; (CH 3; work Popcorn into next 2 CH space) x 7 times; CH 3; SL ST into top of Starting Popcorn.
(8 x Popcorn; 8 x 2 CH spaces.)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With color E; join into any 3 CH space

RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into same space;
*SKIP popcorn; work [2 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into next 3 CH space.**
Repeat from * to ** 7 more times; SKIP popcorn; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(8 x 2 CH spaces; 32 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With color D; join into any 2 CH space

RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 3 DC into same space; SKIP next 2 DC; CH 1; work FPDC around Popcorn;
CH 1; SKIP next 2 DC.
*Work 4 DC into next 2 CH space; SKIP next 2 DC; CH 1; work FPDC around Popcorn;
CH 1; SKIP next 2 DC.**
Repeat from * to ** 6 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.

With color C; join into any FPDC

RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 4 DC into same FPDC; SKIP next 2 DC; work 1 SC into the space in-between next 2 DC; SKIP next 2 DC.

RND 9: CH 4 (counts as 1 DC and 1 CH space); work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner space;
(CH 1; SKIP next DC; work 1 DC into next DC) x 14; CH 1.
