SKILL LEVEL:

Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.

MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Medium worsted (No 4) or DK (double knitting)
Elle Charity DK  (Blue; White; Red; Black & Green and a little bit of yellow too)
Small amounts approx 20 – 50 yards
Hooks & Notions:
Hook 4, 50 mm
Yarn needle
3 Small buttons (for snowman)

Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet
SC2tog – single crochet 2 STS together (decrease)
DC2tog – double crochet 2 STS together (decrease)

Notes:
I use US Crochet stitch terminology.
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.

These guys take about an hour to make each!

Size: Basket – approx 7 cm in diameter and 7 cm in length; Hat – approx 14 cm in length

INSTRUCTIONS:

This is the basic instructions to crochet the basket and hat.

SANTA/SNOWMAN/ELF GIFT MINI BASKET

Hook 4, 50 mm

Basket:  

With yarn make a magic circle

RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 11 DC into ring (12 DC); SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.

RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 1 DC into same ST;  then work 2 DC into each DC until end of round (24 DC); SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.

RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 1 DC into same ST; work 1 DC into next DC.
*Work 2 DC into next DC; then work 1 DC into next DC. Repeat from * until end of round (36 DC); SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.

RND 4: working into back-loops only – CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 1 DC into each ST until end of round (36 DC); SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.

RND 5-8: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 1 DC into each ST until end of round (36 DC); SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.

RND 9: CH 1; then work 1 SC into each ST until end of round (36 SC); SL ST into first SC. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Hat Lid:     

With yarn CH 42; SL ST into first CH to form a ring

RND 1: CH 1; then work 1 SC into each CH all around (42 SC); SL ST into first SC.

RND 2-3: CH 1; then work 1 SC into each ST until end of round (42 SC); SL ST into first SC.
Note – Round 3 is worked into the back-loops only!

RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 1 DC into next 4 STS; DC2tog.
*Work 1 DC into next 5 STS; DC2tog. Repeat from * until end of round (36 DC); SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.

RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 1 DC into next 3 STS; DC2tog.
*Work 1 DC into next 4 STS; DC2tog. Repeat from * until end of round (30 DC); SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.

RND 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then  work 1 DC into next 2 STS; DC2tog.
*Work 1 DC into next 3 STS; DC2tog. Repeat from * until end of round (24 DC); SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.

RND 7: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 1 DC into next 1 STS; DC2tog.
*Work 1 DC into next 2 STS; DC2tog. Repeat from * until end of round (18 DC); SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.

RND 8: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); DC2tog.
*Work 1 DC into next ST; DC2tog. Repeat from * until end of round (12 DC); SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.

The Top:

RND 9-10: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each ST until end of round (12 DC); SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.

RND 11: CH 1; then work 1 SC into each ST (12 SC); SL ST into first SC.

RND 12: CH 1; then work SC2tog x 6 times (6 SC); SL ST into first ST. Fasten off, then sew the opening at the top close and weave in ends.

Make a pom pom and then sew it onto the tip of the hat.

Santa Basket:

Bottom – red yarn
Basket – 2 rows red; 1 row black; 3 rows red
Hat – 2 rows white; then to complete red; and then make a white pom pom
Then Embroider with some yellow yarn a belt buckle

Snowman Basket:

Bottom and Basket – white
Hat – 2 rows blue; then to complete white; and then make a blue pom pom
Then sew on three buttons to front

Elf Basket:

Bottom – green
Basket – 1 row green; 1 row white; then 1 row red; 1 row white; 2 rows green
Hat – 2 rows red; then to complete green; and then make a white pom pom
Then Embroider with some yellow yarn a belt buckle
