PART ONE:
8 Blocks Assorted
SKILL LEVEL:
Easy
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
SIZE:
Approx 12 cm x 12 cm
MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Small amounts of double knitting/light worsted yarn in various colors or
various colors in any yarn available
IMPORTANT NOTE – USE THE SAME TYPE OF YARN THROUGH OUT THE PROJECT!
Don’t stress – the size will just differ if different types are used 🙂
Hooks & Notions:
Size 4.00 mm Hook
Yarn Needle
GAUGE:
Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect as long as all the blocks are approx. the same size
I use US Crochet stitch terminology
INSTRUCTIONS:
Block 1 – Striped SC: Make 2
CH 21
Row 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1S C into each ST until end, (20 SC) change color, turn
Row 2-24: Work 1 SC into each SC from previous row until end, (20 SC) change color, turn.
Fasten off after last row and weave in all ends.
Block 2 – Granny Square: Make 2
Make a magic ring, CH 3
Rnd 1: Work 2 DC, CH2, 3DC, CH2,3DC, CH2,3DC,CH2, SL ST into top of 3rd CH of 3CH. FO
Rnd 2: Change color – Join yarn with a SL ST into any corner, work 3CH, 2DC, CH2, 3DC. CH1, work *3DC, CH2, 3DC into next corner, CH1. Repeat from * 3 times more
Rnd 3: Change color – Join yarn with a SL ST into any corner, work 3CH, 2DC, CH2, 3DC. CH1, work 3DC into next 1CH space. *Work 3DC, CH2, 3DC into next corner, CH1, work 3DC into next 1CH space. Repeat from * 3 times more
Rnd 4: Change color – Join yarn with a SL ST into any corner, work 3CH, 2DC, CH2, 3DC. CH1, work 3DC into next 1CH space, work 3DC into next 1CH space. *Work 3DC, CH2, 3DC into next corner, CH1, work 3DC into next 1CH space, work 3DC into next 1CH space. Repeat from * 3 times more
Rnd 5: Change color – Join yarn with a SL ST into any corner, work 3CH, 2DC, CH2, 3DC. CH1, work 3DC into next 1CH space, work 3DC into next 1CH space, work 3DC into next 1CH space. *Work 3DC, CH2, 3DC into next corner, CH1, work 3DC into next 1CH space, work 3DC into next 1CH space, work 3DC into next 1CH space. Repeat from * 3 times more
Fasten off after last rnd and weave in all ends.
Block 3 – Striped DC: Make 2
CH22
Row 1: Work 1DC into 4th CH from hook, work 1DC into each ST until end (20DC), change color, turn
Row 2-10: CH 3, work 1DC into next , work 1DC into each ST until end (20DC), change color, turn
Fasten off after last row and weave in all ends.
Block 4 – Circle in a Granny: Make 2
CH4
Rnd 1: Work 11DC into 4th CH from hook, SL ST into top 3rd CH (12DC)
Rnd 2: Change color – Join yarn with a SL ST into any DC. Work 1DC into same ST, work 2DC into each DC from previous rnd. (24DC)
Rnd 3: Change color – Join yarn with a SL ST into any DC. Work 1DC into same ST, work 1DC into next ST. *Work 2DC into next ST, work 1DC into next ST. Repeat from *until end. (36DC)
Rnd 4: Change color – Join yarn with a SL ST into any DC. *Work 3DC, 2CH, 3DC into ST, skip 2 STS, 3HDC into next ST, skip 2 STS, 3HDC into next ST, skip 2 STS. Repeat from * 3 times more
Rnd 5: Change color – Join yarn with a SL ST into any corner, work 3CH, 2DC, CH2, 3DC. CH1, work 3DC into next 1CH space, work 3DC into next 1CH space, work 3DC into next 1CH space. *Work 3DC, CH2, 3DC into next corner, CH1, work 3DC into next 1CH space, work 3DC into next 1CH space, work 3DC into next 1CH space. Repeat from * 3 times more
