PART THREE:
Sewing & Borders
SKILL LEVEL:
Easy – Intermediate
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
SIZE:
Cushion: approx 35 cm (width) x 32 cm(height)
MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Small amounts of double knitting/light worsted yarn in various colors or
various colors in any yarn available
IMPORTANT NOTE – USE THE SAME TYPE OF YARN THROUGH OUT THE PROJECT!
Don’t stress – the size will just differ if different types are used 🙂
Size 3.50 Hook / or 4.00 Hook ( I used a 3.50 Hook)
Yarn Needle
GAUGE:
Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect as long as all the blocks are approx. the same size
Sewing:
Position the Heart Square to fit inside the block and sew. Weave in all ends.
I used the Whipstitch Method – but you can crochet the squares together 🙂
Border:
TOP: continue to work 1 SC into each ST and 2 CH space until you reach the end of the top.
Work 1 SC, 2 CH and 1 DC into the corner of the last Granny Square ( see photo),
SIDE: continue down the side working 1 DC into each ST and 1 DC into each 2 CH space until you reach the bottom.
BOTTOM: continue along the bottom part working 1 SC into each ST and 1 SC into each 2 CH space.
SIDE: continue up the side working 1 DC into each ST and 1 DC into each 2 CH space until you reach the bottom.
Starting in a corner work as follows:
Rnd 1 : CH3, skip 2 STS, SL ST into next ST, SKIP 1 ST, SL ST into next ST. Repeat from * right around. SL ST into first 3 CH space.

Hi Amber
I re-edited Round 1 with some extra indications of how the round is worked – hope this helps 🙂
Not sure about Round 1 for the final border. There is not an * for the beginning of the stitch pattern. Not sure which stitches I need to repeat. Thanks
Thank you! 🙂
