My Crochet Pirate Playbook Part Six

PATTERN SUPPORT

Abbreviations:  US Terminology

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

Instructions:

Pirate Camp / Hideaway

Yarns: scraps of double knitting/light worsted yarn in assorted colors (from 2 yards to 50 yards) – stone, brown, dark brown, red, golden brown, dark green, light green and black

Hooks & Notions:

  • Size 3.50 mm Hook
  • Yarn Needle
  • Stitch Marker
  • 1 medium/large press button/snap fastener
  • Needle and Thread

Sleeping Bag & Pillow:

Sleeping Bag:

With stone/sand yarn and 3,50 mm hook – CH 19

Row 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC into each CH until end (18 SC), turn.
Row 2-17: CH1, work 1 SC into each CH until end (18 SC), turn.

Change color to dark brown.

Row 18: CH1, work 1 SC into each CH until end (18 SC), turn.
Row 19: work into the back loops only – CH1, work 1 SC into each back loop until end (18 SC), turn.

Row 20-33: CH1, work 1 SC into each CH until end (18 SC), turn.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Weave in all other ends.

Fold Bag in half as shown in photo- SL ST sides together.

Make a small square of CH 5 and 4 SC for 2/3 rows – sew onto blanket with some black yarn.

Note: was supposed to resemble a ‘patch’ but to me it looks like a big bug got stuck – but my daughter likes it!

Pillow:

With stone/sand yarn and 3,50 mm hook – CH 11

Row 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook,
work 1 SC into each CH until end (10 SC), turn.
Row 2-7: CH1, work 1 SC into each CH until end (10 SC), turn.
SL ST all around and leave a tail for sewing.

Camp Fire:

Fire Spot:

With dark brown yarn and 3,50 mm hook – Make a magic ring/ or CH 4; SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form ring.

Rnd 1: Work 12 DC into ring.
Rnd 2: (Work 2 SC into next ST) x 2,
(work 2 HDC into next ST) x 3, (work 2 DC into next ST) x 2,
(work 2 HDC into next ST) x 3, (work 2 SC into next ST) x 2.
Rnd 3: Work a SL ST into the next 3 STS,
work 1 SC into the next 18 STS, work a SL ST into the last 3 STS.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Logs: (make 4)

With brown yarn and 3,50 mm hook – CH 11

Row 1: Work 1 SC into the 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC into each ST until end (10 SC).
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Chest:

With brown yarn and 3,50 mm hook – CH 16

Row 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC into each ST until end (15 SC), turn.
Row 2-24: CH 1, work 1 SC into each ST until end (15 SC), turn.
Row 25: SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 11 SC, SC2tog, turn.
Row 26: CH 1, work 1 SC into each ST until end (13 SC), turn.
Row 27: SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 9 SC, SC2tog, turn.
Row 28: CH 1, work 1 SC into each ST until end (11 SC), turn.
Row 29: SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 7 SC, SC2tog, turn.
Row 30: CH 1, work 1 SC into each ST until end (9 SC), turn.

Strap

Row 31: SL ST into next 3 STS, work 1 SC into next 3 STS, turn.
Row 32-37: CH 1, work 1 SC into each ST (3 SC), turn.
Row 38: SC3tog.
Fasten off and weave in end.

With golden-brown yarn SL ST all around chest – SKIP strap. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Sew the sides of the chest together – use the inside loops of the golden-brown SL ST stitches.
With some golden-brown CH approx. 6/8 STS – attach to center of chest.

Plants: (make 4)

With dark green/green yarn and 3,50 mm hook –
Make a magic ring/ or CH 4; SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form ring.

CH 8, work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC into next ST,
work 1 HDC into next 2 STS, work 1 DC into next 2 STS,
work 1 TR into last ST. SL ST into ring, CH 5.
Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 HDC into next ST,
work 1 DC into next ST. work 1 TR into last ST, SL ST into ring,
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Building The Page:

  • Sew sleeping bag and pillow onto page.
  • Sew fire spot onto page – position 3 logs over spot and sew into place, sew 1 log at the side.
  • Sew plants onto page – making sure to leave a gap to fit the chest.
  • Attach a press button/snap fastener to the chest and page. (In-between the plants)
