Work 1 SC, 1 HDC, and 1 DC into next ST;
Work 1 DC, 2 TR into last ST, CH 4, SL ST into same ST
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing
Assemble Your Baby Whale:

 Place both tail fins together – right sides facing outwards
Whipstitch the two pieces together!
Optional – you can leave the bottom open, but it does not matter since the tail does not get stuffed 🙂
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Place both body pieces together – right sides facing outwards

Whipstitch the two pieces together!

Stop about 5 cm or 4/5 STS from end of half circle,
whipstitch tail onto body – use photos as guide
I weaved my needle thru both the bottom tail loops and the two loops of the body and continued to whipstitch.

Continue to whipstitch the bottom part of the body until about 8/5 cm from end – stuff body lightly with some fiberfill

 TIP: use a stocking or piece of fabric (I used the cover of a pillow inner) and make a pocket, place stuffing inside of pocket – then stuff the body 🙂 This helps that the stuffing (depending on what kind of stuffing you use) does not pop out in-between the DC stitches!

Close up gap. Fasten off and weave in ends.Glue, Sew or Embroider on some eyes 🙂

Why Mommy Whale DID NOT  swallow her baby whale!
My daughter: “You have got to be kidding me!”
Me:“What? Think of mommy whale as a ‘pocket’, where the baby whale..uh, sleeps”
My daughter: “You have got to be kidding me!” said much slower and with more seriousness.
Me: “Okay, I wont put the baby whale into the mommy anymore…but what do I do? She must have something in her pocket.”
My daughter: – looking at me as if I am nuts – “Food. Food goes in her pocket. Not baby! Food!”
So let’s make some fishy food for Mommy Whale 🙂

Little Fish:
Make as many as required – I made 10 = 5 fish cookies 🙂
Make a magic ring
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 11 DC into ring (12 DC);
SL ST into top of 3 CH;
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC, 1 HDC and 1 SC into same ST;
SL ST into next ST;
Work 1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 DC into next ST, CH 3 and SL ST into same ST

Whipstitch two pieces together – no need to stuff 🙂
Fasten off and weave in ends

My daughter calls them fish cookies!

Mommy whale happy and my daughter is happy!
(do not argue with a four year old!)
