Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

INSTRUCTIONS:
Harvest Field:
With double knitting / light worsted (No 3) yarn and 3, 50 mm hook
Field Pockets: (8 or 10) – see note below
Make a magic circle/ or CH 4 and SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form a ring
NOTE: I have two options for the Field Pockets – you need to choose which pocket you would like make – depending on who the Farm-book is made for.
OPTION ONE – (MAKE 8)
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 2 DC into ring;
[CH 2, work 3 DC into ring] x 3; CH 2 and SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into each DC of previous round; and work [2 DC, 2 CH, 2 DC] into each 2 CH space (corner); SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH
RND 3: CH 1, work 1 SC into each DC of previous round; and work 3 SC into each 2 CH space (corner), SL ST into first SC
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing
OPTION TWO – (MAKE 10)
These pockets are designed with Number appliques in mind.
Get numbers here!
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 2 DC into ring;
[CH 2, work 3 DC into ring] x 3; CH 2 and SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH
RND 2 – 3: CH 1, work 1 SC into each DC of previous round; and work 3 SC into each 2 CH space (corner), SL ST into first SC
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing
Veggie Crates:
With brown yarn CH 17
Large Crate: (Make 2)
ROW 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC into each CH until end (16 SC), TURN
ROW 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), SKIP next ST, work 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into SKIPPED ST (cross st created). *SKIP next ST, work 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into SKIPPED ST. Repeat from * until last ST, work 1 DC into last ST. (16 STS)
ROW 3: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end, TURN (16 STS)
ROW 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), SKIP next ST, work 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into SKIPPED ST (cross st created). *SKIP next ST, work 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into SKIPPED ST. Repeat from * until last ST, work 1 DC into last ST. (16 STS)
ROW 5: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end, TURN (16 STS)
ROW 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), SKIP next ST, work 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into SKIPPED ST (cross st created). *SKIP next ST, work 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into SKIPPED ST. Repeat from * until last ST, work 1 DC into last ST. (16 STS)
ROW 7: CH1, work 1 SC into next 5 STS, CH 6, SKIP 6 STS, work 1 SC into last 5 STS, TURN
ROW 8: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end, TURN (16 STS)
ROW 9: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end, TURN (16 STS)
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing
Small Crate: (Make 1)
ROW 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC into each CH until end (16 SC), TURN
ROW 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), SKIP next ST, work 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into SKIPPED ST (cross st created). *SKIP next ST, work 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into SKIPPED ST. Repeat from * until last ST, work 1 DC into last ST. (16 STS)
ROW 3: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end, TURN (16 STS)
ROW 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), SKIP next ST, work 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into SKIPPED ST (cross st created). *SKIP next ST, work 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into SKIPPED ST. Repeat from * until last ST, work 1 DC into last ST. (16 STS)
ROW 5: CH1, work 1 SC into next 5 STS, CH 6, SKIP 6 STS, work 1 SC into last 5 STS, TURN
ROW 6: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end, TURN (16 STS)
ROW 7: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end, TURN (16 STS)
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing
ASSEMBLING THE FIELD:
STEP 1: Sew the fields pockets in two rows onto the page (see photo)
STEP 2: Sew the crates into position onto page (see photo)
The Sheep
With beige/grey yarn, make a magic circle
Make 2
Rnd 1: CH 2. Work 6 SC in second CH from hook. Place a stitch marker in the last SC to designate the end of the rnd.
Rnd 2: Work 2 SC in each ST around (12 SC). Move Marker
Rnd 3: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (18 SC). Move Marker
Rnd 4: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next two STS. Repeat from * around (24 SC). Move Marker
Rnd 5: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next three STS. Repeat from * around (30 SC). Move Marker
Rnd 6: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next four STS. Repeat from * around (36 SC). Move Marker
Rnd 7: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next five STS. Repeat from * around (42 SC).
Fasten off and weave in ends (leave a tail for sewing on one circle only)
With black yarn, join with a SL ST
ROW 1: Work 1 SC into the next 6 STS, SL ST into the next ST, TURN
ROW 2: do not chain 1 – just work 1 SC into the first SC, work 1 SC into the next 5 SC, SL ST into the next SC, TURN
ROW 3: SL ST into the first SC, CH 1, work 1 SC into the same ST, work 1 SC into the next 5 SC, TURN
ROW 4-5: CH 1, work 1 SC into each SC (6 SC), TURN
ROW 6: SC2tog, *work [1 SC, 1 HDC] into next ST. repeat from * once more, SC2tog.
SL ST all around Cow. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing on only one piece
Wool:
With white yarn, CH 6/8/or 10 and SL ST to make a ring
NOTE: For this part you will need a button and your starting CH will depend of the size of your button – because it will be used as a ‘button hole’.
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 11 DC into ring (12 DC), SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH
RND 2: – work in back-loops only – CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST, work 2 DC into each DC all around (24 DC), SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH
RND 3: – work in back-loops only – CH 3 (counts as 1 DC, work 1 DC into same ST, work 1 DC into next ST.
*Work 2 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into next ST. Repeat from * all around, (36 DC), SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
OPTION ONE: Working back towards the center make a LOOP STITCH into each front loop of RND 3;
continue onto RND 2 and RND 1 working into the exposed loops
OPTION TWO: Working back towards the center work random STS into each front loop of RND 3; – for exp [1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 SC], next loop [1 DC, 1 SC, 1 HDC], next loop [1 HDC, 1 DC, 1 HDC] – continue onto RND 2 and RND 1 working into the exposed loops

Sew the two body pieces wrong sides together.
Stuff body with some fiberfill/toy stuffing before completely sewing close.
Leave a starting tail of approx 10 cm
Ears: Insert hook into a loop on the side of the head – see photos
Work [1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 DC, 1 HDC, 1 SC] into the same loop.
Fasten off and leave a tail approx the same length as starting tail
Repeat for other side
Knot the two tail together on the front of the ear – to shape the ear.

Sew button onto the center of the front
Tail: Insert hook to pop out the center of the magic ring – see photo
Work [1 SC, 1 HDC, 2 DC, 1 HDC, 1 SC] into ring.
Fasten off and knot the two tails ends and weave in.
The Veggies:
With yarn and 3,50 mm hook
The Carrot:
CH 11
ROW 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC into next 9 CH (10 SC), TURN
ROW 2: CH 3, work 1 DC into same ST, work 1 DC into next 2 STS, work 1 HDC into next 2 STS, work 1 SC into next 3 STS, work 1 SL ST into next 2 STS, TURN
ROW 3: SKIP the 2 SL STS, SL ST into next ST, work 1 SC into next 7 STS.
TURN, SL ST all down the side, when you reach the point make a PICOT (CH 3, SL ST into 3rd CH from hook), continue up the other side.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Leaves:
Join green yarn with a SL ST into the space between the 3 CH and the 2nd DC.
*CH 7, work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, SL ST into space. Repeat from * once more.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
The Onion:
Make a magic circle
RND 1: work 6 SC into circle – a stitch marker may be required to help keep count of rounds
RND 2: Work 2 SC into each SC of previous round (12 SC)
RND 3: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next ST. Repeat from all around (18 SC)
RND 4: Work 1 SC into next ST; work 1 HDC, 1 DC into next ST;
work 1 DC into next ST – make a PICOT (CH 3, SL ST into 3rd CH from hook); CH 3, SL ST into same ST as last DC;
work 1 SC into next 6 STS;
work 1 HDC, 1 DC, into next ST; work 1 DC, 1 HDC into next ST;
SL ST into next ST;
work 1 HDC, 1 DC, into next ST; work 1 DC, 1 HDC into next ST;
work 1 SC into last 3 STS.
Remove hook, but do not fasten off
Leaves:
Join green yarn with a SL ST into the ST just below the SL ST of last round – see photos as guide.
* CH 9, work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, SL ST into space. Repeat from * once more.
CH 7, work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, SL ST into space
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Reinsert hook into onion loop and SL ST all around – note: DO NOT WORK a SL ST into the PICOT, SKIP it then work 1 SL ST into each of the 3 CH just after the PICOT, continue and work 1 SL ST into the space just beneath the leaves.
