Easy – Intermediate
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
Concentration required.

Yarn: Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light
Color – 4 colors – color change indicted in pattern

Hook: 4.00 mm

Size: 23 cm x 23 cm (approx. 9 inches)

Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect

I use US Crochet stitch terminology

Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet
2DCtog – work 2 double crochet stitches together

COLORS: A – aran; B – blue; C – grey; D – pink

INSTRUCTIONS:

With A

FOUNDATION RING:
CH 6; join with a SL ST into the first CH to form a ring.

RND 1: CH 1; work 12 SC into ring; join with a SL ST into first SC ( 12 SC).

RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 4 DC into SAME ST;
[CH 3; SKIP 2 SC; work 5 DC into next SC] x 3; CH 3; join with a SL ST into 3rd of CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join B into the first DC of any 5 DC group.

RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into next DC; work 5 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next 2 DC; CH 3.
[Work 1 DC into next 2 DC; work 5 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next 2 Dc; CH 3] x 3;
SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.

RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into next 3 DC; work 5 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next 4 DC; CH 3.
[Work 1 DC into next 4 DC; work 5 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next 4 Dc; CH 3] x 3;
SL ST into 3rd of 3CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join C into any DC AFTER a 3 CH space (see photos)

RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into next 4 DC; work 2DCtog (6 & 7th DC); CH 5; work 2DCtog (7 & 8th DC); work 1 DC into next 5 DC; CH 3.
[Work 1 DC into next 5 DC; work 2DCtog (6 & 7th Dc); CH 5; work 2DCtog (7 & 8th DC); work 1 DC into next 5 DC; CH 3] x 3. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH

RND 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into next 5 STS; work [2DC; 3 CH; 2 DC] into 5 CH space; work 1 DC into next 6 STS; CH 3.
[Work 1 DC into next 6 STS; work [2DC; 3 CH; 2 DC] into next 5 CH space; work 1 DC into next 6 STS; CH 3] x 3. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join D into any 3 CH CORNER space.

RND 7: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC; 3 CH; 3 DC] into same 3 CH space – first corner made. CH 1; [SKIP 2 DC; work 3 DC into next DC; CH 1] x 2;
work 3 DC into 3 CH space; [SKIP 2 DC;
work 3 DC into next DC; CH 1] x 2
*Work [3 DC; 3 CH; 3 DC] into next 3 CH corner space; CH 1;
[SKIP 2 DC; work 3 DC into next DC; CH 1] x 2.
work 3 DC into 3 CH space; [SKIP 2 DC;
work 3 DC into next DC; CH 1] x 2
Repeat from * 2 more times. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.

RND 8: SL ST into next 3 DC; CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC; 3 CH; 3 DC] into 3 CH corner space – first corner made.[CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space] x 6.
*Work [3 DC; 3 CH; 3 DC] into next 3 CH space; [CH 1; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space] x 6.
Repeat from * 2 more times. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join A into any 3 CH space.

RND 9: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into same 3 CH space – first corner made.
Work 1 DC into each DC and 1 CH space until next corner.
*Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each DC and 1 CH space until next corner.
Repeat from * 2 more times. Join with a SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.

RND 10: CH 1; work 1 SC into each DC of previous round and work 3 SC into each 2 CH corner.
SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Final Stitch Count = 35 SC on each side PLUS 3 SC in each corner

 When blocked the Filet Flower Granny Square should be approx 9 inches (23 cm).
