Notes:

Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect

I use US Crochet stitch terminology

Abbreviations:

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)

Special Stitches:

FPDC – front post double crochet

Insert your hook into the front of your work, behind the indicated stitch, and then through your work such that your hook is now at the front of your work again. Pull through final 2 loops on your hook.

INSTRUCTIONS:

PART TWO:

NOTE:  the next round’s start is a bit ‘tricky’ and not as difficult as it looks!

RND 4: the new color will be joined with a ‘standing FPDC’ – work as follows:

  • start with a slip know on your hook;
  • yarn over hook;
  • insert hook from FRONT TO BACK around ANY SKIPPED FPTR of Round 2; positioning the post that you want to crochet around in front of the hook.
  • yarn over hook;
  • pull thru (3 loops on hook);
  • complete as for normal DC.

*CH2; FPDC over next SKIPPED FPTR of Round 1.
Repeat 14 more times; CH 2;
SL ST into top of FIRST (standing) FPDC.

RND 5: SL ST into next 2 CH space; CH 4 (this counts as 1 TR); work 2 TR into 2 CH space; CH 1.
*Work 3 TR into next 2 CH space; CH 1.
Repeat from * 14 more times. SL ST into 4 CH of 4 CH.
(48 Trebles & 16 x 1 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

RND 6: join new color into the FIRST TR of any 3 TR group with a SC;
work 1 SC into next 2 TR;  work 1 FPTR around next Round 4 FPDC.
*Work 1 SC into next 3 TR; work 1 FPTR around next Round 4 FPDC.
Repeat from * 14 more times. SL ST into FIRST SC worked.
(64 STS)

NOTE:  optional – for this round work into back loops only

RND 7: CH 4 (this counts as 1 TR); work 1 TR into next ST;
work 1 DC into next 2 STS; work 1 HDC into next 2 STS; work 1 SC into next 3 STS;
work 1 HDC into next 2 STS; work 1 DC into next 2 STS; work 1 TR into next 2 STS;
work [2 TR; 2 CH; 2 TR] into next ST (you will note this is into a FPTR).
*Work 1 TR into next 2 STS;
work 1 DC into next 2 STS; work 1 HDC into next 2 STS; work 1 SC into next 3 STS;
work 1 HDC into next 2 STS; work 1 DC into next 2 STS; work 1 TR into next 2 STS;
work [2 TR; 2 CH; 2 TR] into next ST (you will note this is into a FPTR).
Repeat from * 2 more times. SL ST into 4th CH of 4 CH.
(19 STS per side – 76 STS all around)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
