Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

INSTRUCTIONS:
PART FIVE:
For this part we will be joining the two pieces.
NOTES: I worked into the back-loops of the square BUT this is optional!
Check the photo below to see on what side I joined:
I joined the two using the SL ST method – working loose and NOT too tightly to avoid my pieces pulling inwards :p
Join new color into the FIRST TR
ROW 1: working as follows – work 58 SC across the the TR; work 1 SC into the ‘join’;
work 13 SC across flower square; work 24 SC evenly across ‘lacy’ rows – you should have a total of 96 SC.
NOTE: the trick here is just to ensure the 96 SC is evenly worked across this section.
TURN
ROW 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); *work 1 DC into next 2 SC; CH 2; SKIP next 2 SC.**
Repeat from * to ** until last 3 SC – work 1 DC into each of last 3 SC; TURN
change color
ROW 3: CH 1; work 1 SC into next 3 DC; *work 1 DC into the SKIPPED SC of previous row; work 1 SC into NEXT 2 DC.**
Repeat from * to ** until last 3 DC – work 1 SC into each of last 3 SD; TURN
ROW 4: repeat ROW 2.

ROW 5: repeat ROW 3
ROW 6: repeat ROW 2

ROW 7: repeat ROW 3
ROW 8: repeat ROW 2

ROW 9: repeat ROW 3
ROW 10: repeat ROW 2

ROW 14: Work 1 SC into each ST across – 96 SC; TURN
change color
ROW 15: CH 3 (counts as DC)/ or work Standing DC;
*CH 1; SKIP next ST; work 1 DC into next ST.**
Repeat from * to ** until end; work 1 DC into last ST – NOTE: you will have 2 DC at the end of the ROW!
TURN
ROW 16: CH 4 (counts as 1 DC plus 1 CH); ; SKIP next DC;
*work 1 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1; SKIP next DC.**
Repeat from * to ** working 1 DC into last ST – NOTE: you will have 2 DC at the end of the ROW!
ROW 17-20: Repeat ROW 16; TURN
RND 1 (ROW 21): THIS IS THE START OF YOUR FIRST ROUND – work 1 SC into each DC and CH space – 96 SC;
CH 2 for corner;
work 25 SC across rows; work up 71 SC across lacy stitches;
CH 2 for corner;
work 40 SC across rows; work up 56 SC across big square;
CH 2 for corner;
work up 56 SC across big square; work up 40 SC across rows;
CH 2 for corner;
SL ST into FIRST SC WORKED.
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); *work 1 DC into each SC across (96 DC) – work [1 DC; CH 2; 1 DC} into corner 2 CH space.**
Repeat from * to ** 3 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Depending on yarn and hook used the measurements will vary!
My piece measure approx 56 cm x 56 cm (22 inches x 22 inches)
