Crochet Cross Stitch Tutorial Washcloth – Free Crochet Pattern
Supplies/Materials:
- Yarn – Nurturing Fibres Eco-Cotton DK (cotton yarn) – approx 80/85 yards (75/80 meters) – 30/35 grams; Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light.
- Hook – 3, 50 mm (E) – I used Clover
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
Gauge:
With yarn listed and 3, 50 mm (E) hook final washcloth should measure 9 ½ inches in width and 9 inches in length (24 x 23 cm).
However gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect
Finished Size:
Washcloth – 9 ½ inches in width and 9 inches in length (24 x 23 cm).
Pattern Notes:
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.
Instructions:
With color
CH 41
ROW 1: work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into each CH until end (40 SC); TURN
ROW 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); SKIP 1st and 2nd SC; work 1 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into SKIPPED 2nd SC.
*SKIP next SC; work 1 DC into next SC; work 1 DC into SKIPPED SC.**
Repeat from * to ** until last SC; work 1 DC into last SC; TURN.
(19 Cross Stitches)
ROW 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); *SKIP next DC; work 1 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into SKIPPED DC.**
Repeat from * to ** until end; work 1 DC into last DC; TURN.
(19 Cross Stitches)
Repeat ROW 3 seventeen (17) more times.
Last ROW: CH 1; work 1 SC into each DC across (40 SC).
Fasten off and weave in ends.
