Kitty Crochet Face Scrubbie – Free Crochet Pattern

Supplies/Materials:

  • Yarn – MoYa 100% Cotton Double Knit – approx 50/59 yards (46/54 meters); Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light.
    Any cotton yarn would be perfect for this project.
  • Hook – 3, 50 mm (E) – I used Clover
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop

Gauge:
However gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.

Remember – if you use/choose a different yarn weight/hook size your cowl will be a different size!

Finished Size:
Approx 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter.

Special Stitches:
Starting Cluster: CH 3; work 2DCtog – 2 double crochet together.
Cluster: work 3DCtog – 3 double crochet together.

With yarn make a magic circle;

RND 1: work Starting Cluster; CH 2; (work 1 Cluster; CH 2) 5 times; SL ST into top of Starting Cluster.
(6 Clusters)
RND 2: SL ST into first 2 CH space; work [Starting Cluster; CH 2; Cluster] into space; CH 1;
(work [Cluster; CH 2; Cluster] into next 2 CH space; CH 1) 5 times; SL ST into top of Starting Cluster.
(12 Clusters)
RND 3: SL ST into first 2 CH space; work [Starting Cluster; CH 2; Cluster] into space; CH 1;
work Cluster into next 1 CH space; CH 1;
(work [Cluster; CH 2; Cluster] into next 2 CH space; CH 1; work Cluster into next 1 CH space; CH 1) 5 times; SL ST into top of Starting Cluster.
(18 Clusters; 9 x 1 Ch spaces; 9 x 2 CH spaces)
RND 4: work 1 SC into top of each Cluster; work 1 SC into each of 1 CH spaces; work 2 SC into each of 2 CH spaces; SL ST into first SC worked. (45 SC)

The Ears:
CH 1; *work 1 SC into next SC; work [1 HDC; 1 DC] into next SC; work [1 DC; 1 TR] into next SC;
work [1 TR; 1 DC] into next SC; work [1 DC; 1 HDC] into next SC**; SL ST into next 3 SC.
Repeat from * to ** once more.

The Strap:
SL ST into next 3 SC; CH 16;
work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into next 15 CH (15 SC):
SL ST into next SC; TURN
work 1 SC into next 15 SC; TURN
work 1 SC into next 15 SC;
SL ST into next SC; TURN;
work 1 SC into next 15 SC;
SL ST into opposite side SC – 4 SC.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
