Scrapstasy Bohemian Crochet Blanket Section 3 – Free Crochet Pattern

Supplies/Materials:

  • Yarn – Vinnis Colours Nikkim (cotton yarn) – approx amounts of colours used listed in Pattern; Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light.
  • Hook – 3, 50 mm (E) – I used Clover
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)

Special Stitches will be give with each section when required.

Gauge:
However gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
However COUNTING your stitches will ensure a true success of this project!

Remember – if you use/choose a different yarn weight/hook size your square will be a different size!

Finished Size:
Square – approx 14 inches (35 cm)
Rectangle – approx in length 18 inches (46 cm); width approx 14 inches (35 cm)

Pattern Notes:
Remember you can use any colors you like! This is also a super project for using leftover yarns!

Instructions:

Section 3:

With Natural/White (approx 5/8 grams (8/12 yards) – join into 2 CH corner space of ROW 3 of previous section.

RND 1: Work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] into corner space; work 1 SC into next 52 DC;
work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] into last DC; work 1 SC into each side of next 3 rows – TIP – work SC into the horizontal ST;
work 1 SC into next corner space; work 1 SC into the 3rd loop of next 49 HDC;
work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] into next corner space; work 1 SC into the 3rd loop of next 49 HDC;
work 1 SC into next corner space; work 1 SC into each side of next 3 rows – TIP – work SC into the horizontal ST;
work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] into first DC of ROW 3 of previous section; work 1 SC into next 52 DC;
SL ST into first SC worked.
(54 SC on each side)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Plum (approx 8/10 grams (24/26 yards) – join into any 2 CH corner space.

Special Stitch:
Berry – yarn over; insert into next SC; yarn over; pull loop thru; yarn over; insert into SAME SC; yarn over;
pull loop thru; yarn over pull thru ALL 5 loops on hook; CH 1 to close stitch.

RND 2: CH 5 (counts as 1 DC and 2 CH space); work 1 DC into same corner space; CH 1;
(SKIP next SC; work 1 Berry into next SC) x 27 times.
*Work [1 DC; 2 CH; 1 DC] into next corner; CH 1; (SKIP next SC; work 1 Berry into next SC) x 27 times.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 5 CH.
(27 Berries on each side)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Fern (approx 10/12 grams (26/28 yards) – join into any 2 CH corner space.

Special Stitch:
FPDC – front post double crochet.

RND 3: CH 5 (counts as 1 DC and 2 CH space); work 1 DC into same corner space; work FPDC around next DC;
work 1 TR into skipped SC of RND 1; work (FPDC around next Berry; work 1 TR into skipped SC of RND 1) x 27 times; work 1 FPDC around next DC.
*Work [1 DC; CH 2; 1 DC] into next corner space; work FPDC around next DC;
work 1 TR into skipped SC of RND 1; work (FPDC around next Berry; work 1 TR into skipped SC of RND 1) x 27 times; work 1 FPDC around next DC.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 5 CH.
(59 STS on each side – 27 Berry FPDC; 2 x FPDC; 30 TR)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Natural/White (approx 10 grams (26 yards) – join into any 2 CH corner space.

RND 4: (Work 3 SC into corner space; work 1 SC into next 59 STS) x 4 times; SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Place square in front of you as shown in photo above (Right Side) – side sections (section 2) should be on the top and right-hand side.

I used 3 colors for the next piece:
Peach; Baby Yellow and Purple – approx 10 grams (26 yards) of each.
I worked 7 rows in each color.

Join in corner SC – Note – there are 3 SC in corner – you will join into the SC nearest to the first SC worked in a DC – the 3rd SC in the corner.

You will start with a Right Side ROW.

ROW 1: CH 2; work 2 SC into joining SC; (SKIP next SC; work 2 SC into next SC) x 30 times; TURN
ROW 2: CH 2; SKIP first SC; work 2 SC into next SC; *SKIP next SC; work 2 SC into next SC**.
Repeat from * to ** until end; TURN.

ROW 2 forms the pattern – repeat until ROW 21 (Right Side).
Fasten off and weave in ends.
