Scrapstasy Bohemian Crochet Blanket Section 2 – Free Crochet Pattern

Supplies/Materials:

  • Yarn – Vinnis Colours Nikkim (cotton yarn) – approx amounts of colours used listed in Pattern; Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light.
  • Hook – 3, 50 mm (E) – I used Clover
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)

Special Stitches will be give with each section when required.

Gauge:
However gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
However COUNTING your stitches will ensure a true success of this project!

Remember – if you use/choose a different yarn weight/hook size your square will be a different size!

Finished Size of Square:
Approx 12 inches (30 cm)

Pattern Notes:
Remember you can use any colors you like! This is also a super project for using leftover yarns!

Instructions:

Section 2:

My Colors: I used approx 1/2 grams (2/3 yards) of each color

  • A – Baby Yellow – approx 5/6 grams (8/10 yards)
  • B – Peacock – approx 10 grams (20/25 yards)
  • C – Raspberry – approx 10 grams (20/25 yards)
  • D – Old Gold – approx 10 grams (20/25 yards)

With A – join into any 2 CH corner space.

RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner; work 1 DC into each DC and 1 FPDC around each FPDC.
*Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next corner; work 1 DC into each DC and 1 FPDC around each FPDC.**
Repeat from * to ** twice more; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(41 STS on each side)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With B – join into any 2 CH corner space.

RND 4: CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC); work [1 HDC; 2 CH; 2 HDC] into corner; work 1 HDC into each DC and 1 FPDC around each FPDC.
*Work [2 HDC; 2 CH; 2 HDC] into next corner; work 1 HDC into each DC and 1 FPDC around each FPDC.**
Repeat from * to ** twice more; SL ST into 2nd of 2 CH.
(45 STS on each side)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With C – join into any 2 CH corner space.

NOTE: for next round work into the 3rd loop of each HDC – this is the loop at the BACK.

RND 5: CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC); work [2 CH; 1 HDC] into corner; work 1 HDC into each HDC,
*Work [1 HDC; 2 CH; 1 HDC] into next corner; work 1 HDC into each HDC.**
Repeat from * to ** twice more; SL ST into 2nd of 2 CH.
(47 STS on each side)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With D – join into any 2 CH corner space.

NOTE: for next round work into the 3rd loop of each HDC – this is the loop at the BACK.

RND 6: CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC); work [2 CH; 1 HDC] into corner; work 1 HDC into each HDC,
*Work [1 HDC; 2 CH; 1 HDC] into next corner; work 1 HDC into each HDC.**
Repeat from * to ** twice more; SL ST into 2nd of 2 CH.
(49 STS on each side)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

NOTE: for the next 3 rows you will NOT turn after each row, but start each row on the same side (front).

With B – join into bottom right corner with the triangles and star facing vertical – see photo.

NOTE: for next row work into the 3rd loop of each HDC – this is the loop at the BACK.

ROW 1: CH 3 (this counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each HDC until corner; work [1 DC; 2 CH; 1 DC] into corner; work 1 DC into each HDC until corner; work 1 DC into corner.
(51 STS on each side – only the 2 sides worked)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With C – join into FIRST DC (3rd of 3 CH) of ROW 1.

ROW 2: Work 1 DC into each DC until corner; work [1 DC; 2 CH; 1 DC] into corner; work 1 DC into each DC until corner; work 1 DC into corner.
(52 STS)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With D – join into FIRST DC (3rd of 3 CH) of ROW 1.

ROW 3: Work 1 DC into each DC until corner; work [1 DC; 2 CH; 1 DC] into corner; work 1 DC into each DC until corner; work 1 DC into corner.
(53 STS)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
