
Snazzy Color Crochet Hat
This Snazzy Color Crochet Hat is part of the 2021 Hatof the Month Crochet Along with The Stitchin’ Mommy and Oombawka Design. A super easy pattern that starts from the bottom.

Snazzy Color Crochet Hat – Free Crochet Pattern
Supplies/Materials:
- Yarn – Moya 100% Cotton – I used approx 295 yards (270 m)
– 1 x 50 g Natural (C)
– 1 x 50 g Sepia ( A)
– 1 x 50 g Amazon (B) - Hook – H (5, 00m) Clover
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
FPDC – frontpost double crochet
BPDC – backpost double crochet
Gauge:
Gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
Finished Size:
Approx 23 inches in head circumference – fits teen/adult – adjust hook for smaller or larger sizes.
Pattern Notes:
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side
Instructions:
This stitch pattern works up in a multiple of 2.
Note: this pattern is worked in the round – do not turn
CH 2 at start of each round does NOT count as a stitch.
With color A – CH 80 and SL ST to make a ring.
RND 1: Work 1 SC into each CH all around; SL ST into first SC worked. (80 SC)
RND 2: CH 2; work 1 DC into each SC all around; SL ST into first DC worked. (80 DC)
Ribbing:
RND 3: CH 2; *work FPDC around next DC; work BPDC around next DC.**
Repeat from * to ** all around; SL ST into first FPDC.
RND 4: CH 2; *work FPDC around next FPDC; work BPDC around next BPDC.**
Repeat from * to ** all around; SL ST into first FPDC.
RND 5: Repeat RND 4.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With color B join into FIRST FPDC.
RND 6: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST all around; SL ST into first SC worked. (80 SC)
Pattern Stitch:
RND 7: CH 2; work [1 HDC; 1 SC] into first SC; SKIP next SC.
* Work [1 HDC; 1 SC] into next SC; SKIP next SC.**
Repeat from * to ** all around; SL ST into first HDC worked.
RND 8 – 11: CH 2; work [1 HDC; 1 SC] into first HDC; SKIP next SC.
*Work [ 1 HDC; 1 SC] into next HDC; SKIP next SC.**
Repeat from * to ** all around; SL ST into first HDC worked.
RND 12: CH 2; work 1 HDC into each ST all around; SL ST into first HDC worked. (80 HDC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With color C join into first SC
RND 13: CH 2; work 1 HDC into each ST all around; SL ST into first HDC worked. (80 HDC)
RND 14: CH 2; work 1 DC into each ST all around; SL ST into first DC worked. (80 DC)
Decrease RND 15: CH 2; SKIP first DC; work 1 DC into each ST all around; SL ST into first DC worked (79 DC)
RND 16 – 28: Repeat RND 15.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Optional:
- Weave in tail along the last round of stitches and close opening – attach pom pom or tassel.
- Or insert elastic band to create a ponytail beanie.
