Abbreviations:  US Terminology

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

Instructions:

Section 4:

The colors I used:

The next instructions are repeated for both strips of squares:

Yarn usage:
approx 15-20 grams for 1^st color; approx 15/20 grams 2^nd and 3^rd color

With 1^st color – join into 2^nd of 2 CH.

RS ROW 9: Work 1 SC in CH; work 1 SC into each ST until end. (129 STS)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With 2^nd color – join into first SC worked.

RS ROW 10: CH 1; work [1 DC; 1 SC] into first SC; SKIP next SC.
*Work [1 DC; 1 SC] into next SC; SKIP next SC. **
Repeat from * to ** until last 2 STS; work 1 SC into last SC (129 STS); TURN
ROW 11: CH 1; work [1 DC; 1 SC] into first SC; SKIP next SC.
*Work [1 DC; 1 SC] into next DC; SKIP next SC.**
Repeat from * to ** until last 2 STS; work 1 SC into last SC (129 STS); TURN
ROW 12: Repeat ROW 11.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With 1^st color – join into first SC worked.

RS ROW 13: Work 1 SC into first SC worked; work 1 SC into each ST until end. (129 STS)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Cluster Flower Square
Size:  5 & half inches / 14 cm

Yarn usage:
approx 15 grams for complete square; 2-3g for each color.

Special Stitch:
Cluster: 3DCtog into SAME ST/SP – work 3 double crochet together into the same stitch or space.

With 1^st Color – CH 4, SL ST into first CH to form a ring/ or make a magic circle.

RND 1: CH 3(counts as 1 DC); work 2DCtog into ring; CH 3; *work Cluster into ring; CH 3.**
Repeat from * to ** 4 more times; SL ST into top of 2DCtog. (6 Clusters; 6 x 3 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With a 2^nd Color – Join into any 3 CH space.

Note: if you have a tight tension work CH 3 in-between Clusters

RND 2: CH 3(counts as 1 DC); work 2DCtog into space; CH 2; work Cluster into SAME space; CH 2.
*Work [Cluster, CH 2; Cluster] into next 3 CH space; CH 2.**
Repeat from * to ** 4 more times; SL ST into top of 2DCtog. (12 Clusters; 12 x 2/3 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With a 3^rd Color – Join into any 2/3 CH space.

RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into SAME space; (CH 1; work 3 DC into next CH space) twice; CH 1.
*Work [2 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into next space; (CH 1; work 3 DC into next CH space) twice; CH 1.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH. (10 x DC on each side = 40 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With a 4^th Color – Join into any corner space.

RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into SAME space; work 1 DC into next 10 DC skipping the 1 CH spaces.
*Work Work [2 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into next space; work 1 DC into next 10 DC skipping the 1 CH spaces.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH. (14 x DC on each side = 56 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With a 5^th Color – Join into any corner space.

RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into SAME space; work 1 DC into next 14 DC. *Work Work [2 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into next space; work 1 DC into next 14 DC.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH. (18 x DC on each side = 72 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With a 6^th Color – Join into any corner space.

RND 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into SAME space; work 1 DC into next 18 DC. *Work Work [2 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into next space; work 1 DC into next 18 DC.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH. (22 x DC on each side = 88 DC)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

With a 1^st Color – Join into any corner space.

RND 7: Work 3 SC into corner space; work 1 SC into next 22 DC.
*Work 3 SC into next corner space; work 1 SC into next 22 DC.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH. (22 x SC on each side plus 3 SC into each corner = 100 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

At the end of this section you should added a 3 rows to your strips plus have 4 x Squares

Size:  Approx. Length = 28 inch / 71 cm Width = 6 inch / 15 cm
