Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

Instructions:
Section 7:
The colors I used:
Large Strip: NB: You will be working on the opposite side of the blanket.
Yarn usage: approx 20-25 grams for 1st color.
With 1st color – join into first SC of row.
RS ROW 1: Work 1 SC into each SC until end. (185 SC = 55 SC over large square, 1 SC into join; 129 SC over strip section.) TURN.
ROW 2: CH 1; work 1 SC into first SC; SKIP next SC; *work [1 SC; 2 DC] into next SC; SKIP next 2 SC.** Repeat from * to ** to last 3 SC; work [1 SC; 2 DC] into next SC; SKIP next SC; work 1 SC into last SC. TURN.
ROW 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each ST until end; TURN.
ROW 4: CH 1; work 1 SC into first DC; SKIP next DC; *work [1 SC; 2 DC] into next DC; SKIP next 2 DC.** Repeat from * to ** to last 3 DC; work [1 SC; 2 DC] into next DC; SKIP next DC; work 1 DC into last DC. TURN.
ROW 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each ST until end. (185 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Popcorn Flower Square
Size: 5 & half inches / 14 cm
Yarn usage: approx 15 grams for complete square; 2-3g for each color.
With 1st color – make a magic ring.
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2 DC into ring, CH 2. *Work 3 DC into ring; CH 2.**
Repeat from * to ** 4 more times, SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH. (6 x 3 DC groups)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With 2nd color – join yarn into any 2 CH space.
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); [work 2DCtog; CH 2; work 3DCtog] into same 2 CH space; CH 2.
* Work [3DCtog; CH 2; 3DCtog] into next 2 CH space; CH 2.** Repeat from * to ** 4 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH. (12 x clusters)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With 3rd color – join yarn into any 2 CH space in-between 2 clusters.
Special Stitch:
Beg Popcorn: CH 3; work 4 DC into same space; remove hook; insert hook into 3rd CH of 3 CH; insert hook into LAST DC of 4 DC; yarn over pull thru BOTH loops; CH 1 to lock Popcorn.
Popcorn – work 5 DC into same space; remove hook; insert hook into FIRST DC of 5 DC; insert hook into LAST DC of 5 DC; yarn over pull thru BOTH loops; CH 1 to lock Popcorn.
RND 3: Work beginning PC; CH 3; *work PC into next 2 CH space; CH 3. **
Repeat from * to ** 10 more times; SL ST into top of beginning PC. (12 x PC; 12 x 3 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With 4th color – join yarn into any 2 CH space.
RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC; CH 2; 3 DC] into 3 CH space; CH 2; work 3 HDC into next 3 CH; CH 2; work 3 HDC into next 3 CH; CH 2. *Work [3 DC; CH 2; 3 DC] into next 3 CH space; CH 2; work 3 HDC into next 3 CH; CH 2; work 3 HDC into next 3 CH; CH 2.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With 5th color – join yarn into any 2 CH corner space.
RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into space; work 1 DC into each ST and CH space until next 2 CH corner space. *Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into space; work 1 DC into each ST and CH space until next 2 CH corner space.** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH. (19 DC on each side – 76 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With 6th color – join yarn into any 2 CH corner space.
RND 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 CH; 1 DC] into space; work 1 DC into each ST until next 2 CH corner space. *Work [1 DC; 2 CH; 1 DC] into space; work 1 DC into each ST until next 2 CH corner space.** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH. (21 DC on each side – 84 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With 7th color – join yarn into any 2 CH corner space.
RND 7: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 CH; 1 DC] into space; work 1 DC into each ST until next 2 CH corner space. *Work [1 DC; 2 CH; 1 DC] into space; work 1 DC into each ST until next 2 CH corner space.** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH. (23 DC on each side – 92 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With 8th color – join yarn into any 2 CH corner space.
RND 8: CH 1; *work 3 SC into corner space; work 1 SC into each ST until next corner space.**
Repeat from * to ** 3 more times. (23 SC on each side + 3 SC x 4 = 104 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
At the end of this section you should added a row to your strip plus have 4 x Squares
Size: Approx. Length = 39 inch / 100 cm Width = 21 inch / 54 cm
