Abbreviations:  US Terminology

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

Instructions:

Section 8:

The colors I used:

Yarn usage:  approx 20-25 grams for each color.

Large Strip Continued (section 7):

With 2^nd color – join into first SC of row.

RS ROW 6: Work 1 SC into each DC until end. (185 SC) TURN.

Special Stitch:
Cross Stitch (CS): SKIP next 2 SC; work 1 DC into next SC; CH 1; work 1 DC into FIRST SKIPPED SC.

ROW 7: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into next SC; work CS. Repeat CS x 60; work 1 DC into each of last DC; TURN.

ROW 8: CH 1; work 1 SC into each DC and 1 CH space. (185 SC) TURN.

ROW 9: Repeat Row 7.

ROW 10: Repeat Row 8.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With 3^rd color – join into first SC of row.

RS ROW 11: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each SC until end. (185 DC) TURN.

ROW 12: CH 1; work 1 SC into first DC; work FPSC around next 3 DC.
*Work 1 SC into next 2 DC; work FPSC around next 3 DC.** Repeat from * to ** last DC; work 1 SC into last DC; TURN.

ROW 13: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each SC and FPSC until end. (185 DC) TURN.

ROW 14: Repeat Row 12.

ROW 15: Repeat Row 13.

ROW 16: Repeat Row 12

ROW 17: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end. (185 SC) TURN.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With 4^th color – join into first SC of row.

RS ROW 18: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end. (185 SC) TURN.

ROW 19: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); SKIP next SC; work 3 DC into next SC. *SKIP next 2 SC; work 3 DC into next SC.**  Repeat from * to ** last 2 SC; SKIP next SC; work 1 DC into last SC; TURN.
(61 x 3DC groups; 2 DC)

ROW 20: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); SKIP next DC; work 3 DC into next DC. *SKIP next 2 DC; work 3 DC into next DC.**  Repeat from * to ** last 2 DC; SKIP next DC; work 1 DC into last DC; TURN.
(61 x 3DC groups; 2 DC)

ROW 21: Repeat Row 20.

ROW 22: CH 1; work 1 SC into each DC until end. (185 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With 5^th color – join into first SC of row.

RS ROW 23: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end. (185 SC) TURN.

ROW 24: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 3 DC into next SC; SKIP next 2 SC.
*SL ST into next SC; CH 3; work 2 DC into same SC; SKIP 2 SC.**
Repeat from * to ** 59 more times; work 1 DC into last DC.

ROW 25: CH 5 (counts as 1 DC; 2 CH); SKIP next 2 DC; work 1 SC into next DC.
*CH 2; SKIP next 2 DC; work 1 SC into next DC.** Repeat from * to ** 60 more times; work 1 DC into last DC; TURN.

ROW 26: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 3 DC into next SC.
* SL ST into next SC; CH 3; work 2 DC into same SC; SKIP 2 CH space.**
Repeat from * to ** 59 more times; work 1 DC into last DC.

ROW 27: Repeat Row 25.

ROW 28: Repeat Row 26.

ROW 29: Repeat Row 25.

WSROW 30: CH 1; work 1 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into each SC and 2 SC into each 2 CH space.
(185 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Joining the Popcorn Flower Squares:

Yarn usage:  approx 10 grams for joining

With 1^st color – join 4 squares with the SL ST (slip stitch) method. Weave in ends.

Square Rounds:

Yarn usage:  approx 15/20 grams for color.

With color – join into center SC of corner 3SC of any square.

RS RND 1: Work 1 SC into first corner SC; work 1 SC into next 25 SC; work 3HDCtog over next [center SC; join; center SC]; work 1 SC into next 25 SC.
*Work [SC; 2 CH; SC] into center corner SC; work 1 SC into next 25 SC; work 3HDCtog over next [center SC; join; center SC]; work 1 SC into next 25 SC.** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times (212 STS = 53 SC on each side)

RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into next 53 STS.
*Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner 2 CH space; work 1 DC into next 53 STS.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next corner space; SL ST into 3^rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

At the end of this section you should added 3 x color row sections to large strip.
Joined four squares into larger square.

Size:  Approx. Length = 39 inch / 100 cm Width = 27 & 1/5 inch / 70 cm
