Special Stitches:

How to Work Front-Post Double-Crochet (FPDC):

  • Yarn over and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second stitch of the row/round below, and then from back to front again between the posts of the second and third stitches.
  • The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the stitch that you’re working around.
  • Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch.
  • You now have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice.
  • One front post double crochet (FPDC) is complete.

HDC Starting Popcorn:

  • CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC); work 4 half double crochet (hdc) stitches in the same stitch.
  • Drop the loop from your hook.
  • Insert your hook from front to back under the 2nd CH of 2 CH.
  • Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the chain.

5 HDC Popcorn:

  • Work 5 half double crochet (hdc) stitches in the same stitch.
  • Drop the loop from your hook.
  • Insert your hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first half double crochet of the group.
  • Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the stitch.

BAG INSTRUCTIONS ONLY:

Joining:

Note: Work into BACK LOOPS ONLY.

With A – Starting on the right side (with front panel facing towards you); join the front panel and the back panel together working SC stitches evenly along up the side (57 SC).

Notethe corner 1 CH spaces are SKIPPED.

At the top continue working SC stitches ONLY on the front panel (57 SC).

Continue working down the left side; joining the front panel and the back panel together working SC stitches evenly along down (57 SC).

With F – join into FIRST SC on the TOP (SC worked into corner AFTER 1 CH corner space.) (front panel).

RND 1: Work 1 SC into next 56 SC (57 SC); continue working in the round (back panel) work 1 SC into next 57 SC; SL ST into first SC worked. (114 SC)

RND 2: SL ST into next ST; CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into previous SL ST. *Work Cross Stitch over next 2 SC. ** Repeat from * to ** 55 more times; SL ST into DC of first Cross Stitch.

RND 3: CH 1; work 1 SC into first DC; work 1 SC into 3rd of 3 CH; work 1 SC into each DC all around; SL ST into first SC worked. (114 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With G – join into FIRST SC of previous RND.

RND 4-5: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC all around (114 SC); SL ST into first SC.

Handle – RND 6: CH 1; work 1 SC into each of next 20 SC; CH 17; SKIP next 17 SC; work 1 SC into each of next 40 SC; CH 17; SKIP next 17 SC; work 1 SC each of next 20 SC; SL ST into first SC.
