SPECIAL STITCHES

SC2tog (decrease): work 2 (two) single crochet stitches together.

SC4tog (decrease: work 4 (four) single crochet stitches together.

INSTRUCTIONS

With  3, 50 mm hook (I used Clover)

Chef’s Hat:

With yarn make a magic circle (this is recommended, however if you do not know how or struggle with this method, CH 4; SL ST into 4 CH from hook to form a ring.)

Note: at the start of each round, you will CH 2 – this DOES NOT count as a stitch!

	RND 1: CH 2; work 12 DC into ring; SL ST into first DC. (12 DC)
	RND 2: CH 2; work 2 DC into each DC all around; SL ST into first DC. (24 DC)
	RND 3: CH 2; *work 2 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next DC. ** Repeat from * to ** all around. (36 DC)
	RND 4: CH 2; *work 2 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next 2 DC. ** Repeat from * to ** all around. (48 DC)
	RND 5: CH 2; *work 2 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next 3 DC. ** Repeat from * to ** all around. (60 DC)
	RND 6: CH 2; *work 2 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next 4 DC. ** Repeat from * to ** all around. (75 DC)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Apron:

With yarn CH 11.

Note: worked from the top down.

	ROW 1: CH 1; work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into each CH until end; (10 SC) TURN.
	ROW 2: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end; (10 SC) TURN.

Repeat ROW 2 until ROW 4.

	ROW 3		ROW 4
	ROW 5: CH 1; work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next 8 SC; work 2 SC into last SC (12 SC) TURN.
	ROW 6: CH 1; work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next 10 SC; work 2 SC into last SC (14 SC) TURN.
	ROW 7: CH 1; work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next 12 SC; work 2 SC into last SC (16 SC) TURN.
	ROW 8: CH 1; work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next 14 SC; work 2 SC into last SC (18 SC) TURN.
	ROW 9: CH 1; work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next 16 SC; work 2 SC into last SC (20 SC) TURN.
	ROW 10: CH 1; work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next 18 SC; work 2 SC into last SC (22 SC) TURN.
	ROW 11: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end; (22 SC) TURN.

Repeat ROW 11 until ROW 33.

Note: continue to work in the round – work SC evenly all along the edges of the apron all around – work 2 SC into each corner.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

The Straps – Repeat instructions for both sides.

Insert hook into corner SC of the FIRST row (top of apron); CH 41; SL ST into 2^nd CH from hook; SL ST into each CH until end; SL ST into corner SC.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing – Heart Applique:

With yarn make a magic circle (this is recommended, however if you do not know how or struggle with this method, CH 4; SL ST into 4 CH from hook to form a ring.)

RND 1: Work 6 SC into ring; SL ST into first SC worked.
RND 2: CH 3; work 3 into FIRST SC; work 2 HDC into next SC; work [2 SC; 1 DC] into next SC; work 2 HDC into next SC; work [3 DC; CH 3; SL ST] into LAST SC.

Fasten off and leave a tail (approx. 6 inches /15 cm) for weaving.

Sew heart onto the apron. Optional – Gabby’s heart is sewn onto the bottom corner.
