INSTRUCTIONS
Constructing The Doll:
You have two options when construction the doll.
This doll was designed to be a ragdoll – which is not a full amigurumi doll. However, if a fully stuffed doll is preferred instructions have been given.
- Step 1: Optional – Insert plastic spoon (18/19 cm) into head – this is done to prevent a floppy head and neck.
(only plastic is advised – since wood can ruin yarn when washed) - Step 2: Stuff arms.
– Ragdoll – hands and wrist firmly.
– Full – the whole arm firmly. - Step 3: Stuff legs.
– Ragdoll – foot, ankles up to the knee firmly.
– Full – the whole leg firmly. - Step 4: Attaching the head to the body.
use photos as a guide.
– the last round of the head is used to sew the head onto the third round of the neck from the body. The FIRST two rounds of neck are inserted into the head – this is to provide a more secure neck. - Step 5: Stuff the head and neck firmly.
- Step 6: The body.
– Ragdoll – Stuff the body lightly; sew body closed and attach legs.
– Full – Stuff body firmly; attach legs and sew body closed. - Step 7: Attach arms – use the shoulder and chest loops as a guide.
– attach arms just beneath the line. - Step 8: Finishing – weave in all ends securely.
The Hair:
Please note – in the photos the head has not been attached to the body – this was done for the tutorial only! Hair is attached after head has been attached to the body. (If hair is done first before attaching the head – the hair can be an annoyance when working the neck.)
- Step 1: Optional – Pin hair to head – I used long dress pins to pin the hair to the head to help keep it in position.
- Step 2: Using the outside loops only – sew hair to head.
NOTE: make sure the hair strands are on the front part of the head. - Step 3: Flip strands over the top of the head and pin just beneath the hairline. Sew strands into position – from right to left.
- Step 4: Pleating the hair.
Divide strands as follows – 8 per side – pleating is 2 strands on the outside; 3 strands in the middle; 3 strands on the inside. Tie with leftover hair color.
Step 5: Finishing – weave in all ends securely.
