Mini Flower Crochet Gift Box

SKILL LEVEL:

Easy
Basic stitches in simple variations, simple repeats, color changes, shaping and finishing.

You will need to know basic stitches like SC (single crochet) and DC (double crochet).
Special stitches explained and provided in the instructions.

MATERIALS:

  • Hook – 3,50 mm (E)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Yarn:

Elle Pure Gold Double Knit (100g / 284 yards / 258 meters)
Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light. – Approx. 23 grams / 56.8 yards / 51.6 meters

• A – Bamboo
• B – Caberet
• C – Teal
• D – Sunflower

TENSION/GAUGE:

Gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
However COUNTING your stitches will ensure true success of this project!

SIZE:

Box Bottom – approx 6 cm
Box Lid – approx 7 cm

Remember – if you use/choose a different yarn weight/hook size your gift box will be a different size!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Flower:

With A – make a magic ring/or CH 4; SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form a ring.

RND 1: Work 6 SC into ring; SL ST into first SC worked. (6 SC)

RND 2: CH 6, *SL ST into next SC, CH 6. ** Repeat from * to ** 4 times more. (6 x Loops)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With B – join into ANY loop with a SC.

RND 3: Work [1HDC; 2 DC; 1HDC; 1 SC] into same loop.
*Work [1 SC; 1HDC; 2 DC; 1HDC; 1 SC] into next loop. **
Repeat from * go ** for the 4 remaining loops. SL ST in first loop.
(6 x Petals) Fasten off and weave in ends.

With A – join with a SL ST (back to front) around ANY loop post – see photo.

Note: How to work the SL ST = Insert hook from back to front around the post, going to the back again; yarn over hook and pull through.

RND 4: CH 6; *SL ST around post; CH 6. ** continue from * to ** until there are 6 loops. SL ST into first loop made.
(6 x loops) Fasten off and weave in ends.

With B – join into ANY loop with a SC.

RND 5: Work [1HDC; 1 DC; 2 TR; 1 DC; 1HDC; 1 SC] into same loop.
*Work [1 SC; 1HDC; 1 DC; 2 TR; 1 DC; 1HDC; 1 SC] into next loop. **
Repeat from * go ** for the 4 remaining loops. SL ST in first loop.
(6 x Petals) Fasten off and weave in ends.

Flower Button:

Note: This part is made by working in continuous rounds, so you may want to use a stitch marker to keep record of your current rnd.

With D – make a magic ring/or CH 4; SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form a ring.

RND 1: Work 6 SC into ring. (6 SC)

RND 2: Work 2 SC into each SC all around. (12 SC)

RND 3: Work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next SC.
*Work 2 SC into next SC; work 1 SC into next SC. ** Repeat from * to ** all around. (18 SC)

RND 4-5: Work 1 SC into each SC all around. (18 SC)

RND 6: (Work 2SCtog over next 2 SC) 9 x times; SL ST into first ST. (12 STS)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Box – Bottom:

Note: This part is made by working in continuous rounds, so you may want to use a stitch marker to keep record of your current rnd.

With C – make a magic ring/or CH 4; SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form a ring.

RND 1: Work 6 SC into ring. (6 SC)

RND 2: Work 2 SC into each SC all around. (12 SC)

RND 3: *Work 2 SC into next SC; work 1 SC into next SC. ** Repeat from * to ** 5 more times. (18 SC)

RND 4: **Work 2 SC into next SC; work 1 SC into each of next 2 SC. ** Repeat from * to ** 5 more times. (24 SC)

RND 5: **Work 2 SC into next SC; work 1 SC into each of next 3 SC. ** Repeat from * to ** 5 more times. (30 SC)

RND 6: **Work 2 SC into next SC; work 1 SC into each of next 4 SC. ** Repeat from * to ** 5 more times. (36 SC)

Note: For the next round work into BACKLOOPS only.

RND 7: Work 1 SC into each SC all around. (36 SC)

RND 8-12: Work 1 SC into each SC all around. (36 SC)

RND 13: SL ST into each SC all around.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Box -Lid:

With A – make a magic ring/or CH 4; SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form a ring.

Note: ALL CH 2 at the start of each round DOES NOT COUNT AS A ST.

RND 1: CH 2; work 12 DC into ring; SL ST into FIRST DC worked. (12 DC)

RND 2: CH 2; work 2 DC into each DC all around; SL ST into FIRST DC worked. (24 DC)

RND 3: CH 2; *work 2 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next DC. ** Repeat from * to ** 11 more times; SL ST into FIRST DC worked. (36 DC)

RND 4: CH 1; *work 2 SC into next DC; work 1 SC into each of next 5 DC. ** Repeat from * to ** 5 more times; SL ST into FIRST SC worked. (42 SC)

Note: For the next round work into BACKLOOPS only.

RND 5: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC all around. (42 SC)

RND 6: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC all around. (42 SC)

RND 7: SL ST into each SC all around.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly:

  • Stuff Flower Button and sew close.
  • Attach button to flower.
  • Attach flower to box lid.
  • Secure all ends and fasten off.
