Difficulty Level/Skill Required: Easy – Intermediate
Basic stitches in simple variations, simple repeats, color changes, shaping and finishing.
Includes more involved stitch combinations like the popcorn stitch.
You will need to know basic stitches like the DC (double crochet).
Special stitches explained and links to tutorials are provided.

- Yarn – Charity Double Knit Pullskein (100g / 255 yards / 233 meters)
Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light. - Hook – 4.00 mm (G) – Clover
- Scissors
- Yarn needle

SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)

INSTRUCTIONS:
FOUNDATION RING:
CH 6 and SL ST into first CH to form a ring
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 3 DC into ring;
CH 3; TURN;
work 1 DC into first DC; work 1 DC into next 2 DC, work 1 DC into 3rd of 3 CH;
TURN;
*making sure 3 CH is behind petal;
Work 4 DC into ring; CH 3, TURN;
work 1 DC into first DC; work 1 DC into next 3 DC;
CH 3, TURN.
Repeat from * 6 more time – 8 petals made
Fasten off and weave in ends.
RND 2: join new color into any 3 CH behind one of the petals;
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC, 2 CH, 3 DC] into same space;
work 3 DC into next 3 CH space.
*Work [ 3 DC, 2 CH, 3 DC] into next 3 CH space; work 3 DC into next 3 CH.
Repeat from * twice more; join with a SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
RND 3: join new color into any 2 CH corner space
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC, 2 CH, 3 DC] into same space;
work 1 DC into next 9 DC.
*Work [ 3 DC, 2 CH, 3 DC] into next 2 CH space; work 1 DC into next 9 DC
Repeat from * twice more; join with a SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
RND 4: join new color into any 2 CH corner space
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC, 2 CH, 3 DC] into same space;
work 1 DC into next 4 DC, SKIP next DC and work 1 DC into DC below SKIPPED DC;
*work 1 DC into next 2 DC; SKIP next DC and work 1 DC into DC below SKIPPED DC.
Repeat from 2 more times;
work 1 DC into next 4 DC.
*Work [ 3 DC, 2 CH, 3 DC] into next 2 CH space;
work 1 DC into next 4 DC, SKIP next DC and work 1 DC into DC below SKIPPED DC;
*work 1 DC into next 2 DC; SKIP next DC and work 1 DC into DC below SKIPPED DC.
Repeat from 2 more times;
work 1 DC into next 4 DC.

RND 5: join new color into any 2 CH corner space
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC, 2 CH, 1 DC] into same space;
work 1 DC into each DC until next 2 CH space
*Work [ 2 DC, 2 CH, 2 DC] into next 2 CH space; work 1 DC into each DC until next 2 CH space
Repeat from * twice more; join with a SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
RND 6-7: Repeat round 5
Fasten off and weave in ends.
RND 8: join new color into any 2 CH corner space
CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC; work [2 HDC] into same space;
work 1 HDC into each DC until next 2 CH space
*Work [ 3 HDC] into next 2 CH space; work 1 HDC into each DC until next 2 CH space
Repeat from * twice more; join with a SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
