MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Scheepjes Cotton 8 (4 ply) – Grey & Pink
Small amounts approx 20 – 50 yards
Hooks & Notions:
Hook 2, 00 mm
Yarn needle
Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet
2DC Cluster – work 2 DC together in one ST
3DC Cluster – work 3 DC together in one ST
Notes:
I use US Crochet stitch terminology.
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.
Size: approx 4 inches in length (10 cm)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Make a magic ring;
TOE:
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 11 DC into ring; SL ST into top of 3rd CH of 3 CH (12 DC)
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST as 3 CH; work 2 DC into each ST all around; SL ST into top of 3rd CH of 3 CH (24 DC)
RND 3 – 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each ST all around; SL ST into top of 3rd CH of 3 CH (24 DC).
FORMING THE HEEL:
ROW 7: [Note – the following is worked over the next 14 STS]
CH 1; work 1 SC into same ST as 1 CH; work 1 HDC into next ST; work 1 DC into next 8 STS;
work 1 HDC into next ST; work 1 SC into next ST; SL ST into next ST. TURN
Note – the inside of the sock will now be facing you
ROW 8: CH 1; SKIP ST; SL ST into next ST; work 1 SC into next ST; work 1 HDC into next; work 1 DC into next 4 STS; work 1 HDC into next ST; work 1 SC into next ST; SKIP ST; SL ST into next ST. TURN
ROW 9: CH 1; SKIP ST; SL ST into next ST; work 1 SC into next ST; work 1 HDC into next ST; work 1 DC into next 2 STS; work 1 HDC into next ST; work 1 SC into next ST; SKIP ST; work 1 SL ST into next ST.
DO NOT TURN – continue in the round;
RND 10: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each ST all around – you should have 24 DC at the end of the round; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
RND 11-12: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each ST all around (24 DC); SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
FORMING THE HEARTS:
RND 13: CH 1: work 1 SC into each ST all around (24 SC); change color to pink (TIP: do not fasten off grey – on RND 15 just continue with grey)
RND 14: CH 3; 2 DC CLUSTER into same ST; CH 2; SKIP 5 STS;
*work [3DC CLUSTER; 2 CH; 3DC CLUSTER] into next ST; CH 2; SKIP 5 STS;
Repeat from * 2 more times; work a 3DC CLUSTER into the SAME ST as the starting 2DC CLUSTER; CH 2; SL ST into top of 2DC CLUSTER. (4 Hearts)
Fasten off pink yarn.
RND 15: Rejoin grey yarn with a 1 SC into the center of the starting (first) Heart;
*CH2: work 1 DC into the 2nd, 3rd and 4th DC of the SKIPPED 5 STS of RND 13; CH 2; work 1 SC into center of next heart.
Repeat from * all around; CH 2; SL ST into first SC worked.
RND 16: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC);*work 1 DC into next 2 CH space; work 1 DC into next 3 DC; work 1 DC into next 2 CH space; work 1 DC into next SC.
Repeat from all around (24 DC); SL ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH.
RND 17: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST all around (24 SC); CH 10 for loop; SL ST into first SC.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
