Concentration required.
Yarn: Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light
Color – 4 colors – color change indicted in pattern
Hook: 4.00 mm
Size: 23 cm x 23 cm (approx. 9 inches)

Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet
SPECIAL STITCHES:
Beg PC (beginning popcorn): CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 4 DC into the same stitch; REMOVE your hook from the loop; INSERT hook into the 3rd CH of the 3 CH; INSERT your hook into the dropped loop; YARN OVER and pull thru both loops on your hook.
PC (popcorn): Work 5 DC into the same stitch; REMOVE your hook from the loop; INSERT hook into the FIRST DC worked; INSERT your hook into the dropped loop; YARN OVER and pull thru both loops on your hook.
COLORS: A – aran; B – blue; C – grey; D – pink
INSTRUCTIONS:
With B
FOUNDATION RING:
CH 10; join with a SL ST into the first CH to form a ring.
RND 1: CH 1; work 16 SC into ring; join with a SL ST into first SC ( 16 SC).
RND 2: Work BEG PC into the first SC; CH 3; SKIP the next SC; work [PC into next SC; CH 3; SKIP next SC] 7 times; join with a SL ST into the BEG PC. (8 PC and 8 x 3 CH spaces)
Beg PC (beginning popcorn): CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 4 DC into the same stitch; REMOVE your hook from the loop; INSERT hook into the 3rd CH of the 3 CH; INSERT your hook into the dropped loop; YARN OVER and pull thru both loops on your hook.
PC (popcorn): Work 5 DC into the same stitch; REMOVE your hook from the loop; INSERT hook into the FIRST DC worked; INSERT your hook into the dropped loop; YARN OVER and pull thru both loops on your hook.
RND 3: CH 1; work 1 SC into same ST (top of PC); *CH 6; work 1 SC into the top of the NEXT PC.
Repeat from, * 6 more times; CH 6; SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join C into any 6 CH space
RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [4 DC; 3 CH; 5 DC] into corner; CH 3; work 1 SC into NEXT 6 CH space; CH 3.
*Work [5 DC; 3 CH; 5 DC] into NEXT 6 CH space; CH 3; work 1 SC into NEXT 6 CH space; CH 3.
Repeat from * 2 more times. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join D into any 3 CH corner space
RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [4 DC; 3 CH; 5 DC] into corner; CH 4; work 1 SC into NEXT 3 CH space; CH 3; work 1 SC into NEXT 3 CH space; CH 4.
*Work work [5 DC; 3 CH; 5 DC] into corner; CH 4; work 1 SC into NEXT 3 CH space; CH 3; work 1 SC into NEXT 3 CH space; CH 4.
Repeat from * 2 more times. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join A into any 3 CH CORNER space.
RND 6:CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC; 3 CH; 3 DC] into same 3 CH space – first corner made. CH 2; work 3 DC into next 4 CH space; CH 2; work 3 DC into next 3 CH space; CH 2; work 3 DC into next 4 CH space; CH 2.

Join B into any 3 CH CORNER space.
RND 7: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC; 3 CH; 3 DC] into same 3 CH space – first corner made. CH 1; [SKIP 3 DC; work 3 DC into next 2 CH space; CH 1] x 4;
*Work [3 DC; 3 CH; 3 DC] into next 3 CH space; CH 1; [SKIP 3 DC; work 3 DC into next 2 CH space; CH 1] x 4.
Repeat from * 2 more times. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.

Join C into any 3 CH space.

Join A into any 3 CH space.
RND 10: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into same 3 CH space – first corner made.
Work 1 DC into each DC and 1 CH space until next corner.
*Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each DC and 1 CH space until next corner.
Repeat from * 2 more times. Join with a SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join B into any 2 CH space.
RND 11: CH 1; work 3 SC into corner space.
Work 1 SC into each DC of previous round and work 3 SC into each 2 CH corner.
SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Final Stitch Count = 35 SC on each side PLUS 3 SC in each corner
When blocked the Popcorn Flower Granny Square should be approx 9 inches (23 cm).
