Scrapsantastic Crochet Throw Part Seven – Free Crochet Along
The Scrapsantastic Crochet Throw Part Seven is part of a fun, unique blanket crochet along worked in a variety of stitches and squares. A puzzle constructed as you crochet.

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

INSTRUCTIONS
Section Four Square Design Two – Make 2
Colors:
· A – Natural
· B – Dark Purple |
· C – Mint
· D – Purple Pink · E – Grey |
With A and 3, 50 mm (E) – make a magic circle (this is recommended, however if you do not know how or struggle with this method, CH 4; SL ST into 4 CH from hook to form a ring.)
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2 DC into ring; CH 3.
*Work 3 DC into ring; CH 3. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(4 x 3 DC groups; 4 x 3 CH spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.
With B – join into any 3 CH space.
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into 3 CH space; CH 1; work 5DC Popcorn into 2nd DC of next 3 DC group; CH 1.
*Work [2 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into next 3 CH space; CH 1; work 5DC Popcorn into 2nd DC of next 3 DC group; CH 1. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(4 x Popcorns; 8 x 1 CH spaces; 16 DC – 4 on each side; 4 x 3 CH corner spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With C – join into any 3 CH corner space.
Note: If you have a tight tension change the CH 2 to CH 3 – i.e. if your square buckets.
RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 4 DC into same corner space; CH 2; work 1 FPDC around next Popcorn; CH 2. *Work 5 DC into next 3 CH corner space; CH 2; work 1 FPDC around next Popcorn; CH 2. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(4 x FPDC; 8 x CH 2 spaces; 4 x 5 DC corner groups)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With D – join into 3rd (center) DC of 5 DC corner group.
RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into DC; CH 3; work 1 HDC Popcorn into next 2 CH space; CH 3; work 1 HDC Popcorn into next 2 CH space; CH 3.
*Work [2 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into DC; CH 3; work 1 HDC Popcorn into next 2 CH space; CH 3; work 1 HDC Popcorn into next 2 CH space; CH 3. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH; SL ST into next DC; SL ST into next corner space.
RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into corner space; work 1 DC into each of next 2 DC; work 2 DC into next 3 CH space; work 1 FPDC around next Popcorn; work 3 DC into next 3 CH space; work 1 FPDC around next Popcorn; work 2 DC into next 3 CH space; work 1 DC into each of next 2 DC.
*Work [2 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into next 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each of next 2 DC; work 2 DC into next 3 CH space; work 1 FPDC around next Popcorn; work 3 DC into next 3 CH space; work 1 FPDC around next Popcorn; work 2 DC into next 3 CH space; work 1 DC into each of next 2 DC. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(2 FPDC; 15 DC on each side = 17 STS)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With B – join into any 3 CH space.
RND 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each ST across.
*Work [2 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each ST across. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(21 DC on each side; 4 x 2 CH corner spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.
With C – join into any 2 CH space.
RND 7: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each DC across.
*Work [2 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each DC across. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(25 DC on each side; 4 x 2 CH corner spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.
With D – join into any 2 CH space.
RND 8: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each DC across.
*Work [2 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each DC across. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(29 DC on each side; 4 x 2 CH corner spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.
With E – join into any 2 CH space.
NOTE: The FIRST DC on each side is SKIPPED! This is important for the stitch count for the next sections and joining.
RND 9: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space; SKIP FIRST DC; work 1 DC into each DC across.
*Work [2 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space; SKIP FIRST DC; work 1 DC into each DC across. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(32 DC on each side; 4 x 2 CH corner spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.
Square measures approx. 8 x 8 inches (20/21 x 20/21 cm)
Joining Squares & Triangles
Colors:
- A – Grey
With A and 4, 00 mm (G)
Joining the squares:
Flat Zipper Join – this is optional – any solid joining can be used.
Note: Work into the BACK LOOPS only.
Make a slip knot and insert hook from front to back into the back-loop of the SECOND CH of the righthand square corner space.
Insert hook from the front to back into the back-loop of the SECOND CH of the lefthand square corner space.
Yarn over.
Pull through all three loops on hook.
*Insert hook from the front to the back of the back-loop of the first ST of the righthand square.
Insert hook from the front to the back of the back-loop of the first ST of the lefthand square.
Yarn over.
Pull through both loops on hook. **
Repeat the method from * to ** for all the remaining stitches, ending with a join into the first corner chain spaces of the squares.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Repeat join for the remaining two squares.
Joining the triangles:
Using a needle and color A yarn join the triangles to section one as shown in the photos below:

Using the slip stitch method or the Flat Zipper Join and working into the back-loops only attach squares to ROW 31.
Unblocked Throw is currently approx 33 inches (85 cm) in width and 26 inches (67 cm) in length (with my yarn and hooks)
