The Scrapsantastic Crochet Throw Part Six is part of a fun, unique blanket crochet along worked in a variety of stitches and squares. A puzzle constructed as you crochet.

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

INSTRUCTIONS
Section Three – Up and Down ROWS
Colors:
· A – Pale Lilac · B – Princess Buttercup |
· C – Kingfisher
· D – Princess Aqua |
With A and 4, 00 mm (G) – with right-side facing join into ROW 14 first SC.
Note: CH 1 does NOT count as a stitch.
RS – ROW 15: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC across. (136 SC) TURN.
WS – ROW 16: CH 1; work 1 SC into first ST; work 1 DC into next ST.
*Work 1 SC into next ST; word 1 DC into next ST. ** Repeat from * to ** until end.
(136 STS = 68 SC and 68 DC) TURN
RS – ROW 17: Repeat ROW 16. (136 STS = 68 SC and 68 DC) TURN
WS – ROW 18: CH 1; work 1 SC into each DC across. (136 SC). Fasten off and weave in ends.
ROW 15 – 18 is the repeat pattern for the following rows:
With B – join into first SC.

Section Four Square Design One – Make 2
Colors:

With A and 3, 50 mm (E) – make a magic circle (this is recommended, however if you do not know how or struggle with this method, CH 4; SL ST into 4 CH from hook to form a ring.)
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2 DC into ring; CH 3.
*Work 3 DC into ring; CH 3. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(4 x 3 DC groups; 4 x 3 CH spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.
With B – join into any 3 CH space.
RND 2: CH 1 (does NOT count as 1 ST) work [3DCtog; CH 3; work 3DCtog] into 3 CH space; CH 2; work 3DCtog into 2nd (center) DC of next 3 DC group; CH 2.
*Work [3DCtog; CH 3; work 3DCtog] into next 3 CH space; CH 2; work 3DCtog into 2nd (center) DC of next 3 DC group; CH 2. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into top of first 3DCtog. (12 x 3DCtog; 8 x 2 CH spaces; 4 x 3 CH corner spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.
With C – join into any 3 CH corner space.
RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; work 3 DC into next 2 CH space; work 3 DC into next 2 CH space.
*Work [2 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; work 3 DC into next 2 CH space; work 3 DC into next 2 CH space. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(10 DC on each side = 40 DC; 4 x 3 CH corner spaces)
Tip: If you have a TIGHT TENSION or are working with a thicker yarn – replace the CH 3 with a CH 4.
RND 4: SL ST into next DC; CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; CH 3/4; work 3DCtog over the next 3 DC (see photo); CH 3/4; work 3DCtog over the next 3 DC; CH 3/4.
*Work [2 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; CH 3/4; work 3DCtog over the next 3 DC; CH 3/4; work 3DCtog over the next 3 DC; CH 3/4. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH. (16 corner DC; 4 x 3 CH corner spaces; 8 x 3DCtog; 12 x 3/4 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With D – join into any 3 CH space.
RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each of next 2 DC; work 1 TR into each of next 2 RND 3 DC (work over the 3/4 CH space); CH 1; work 3 DC into next 3/4 CH space; CH 1; work 1 TR into each of next 2 RND 3 DC; work 1 DC into each of next 2 DC.
*Work [2 DC; CH 3; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each of next 2 DC; work 1 TR into each of next 2 RND 3 DC; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 3/4 CH space; CH 1; work 1 TR into each of next 2 RND 3 DC; work 1 DC into each of next 2 DC. **

With B – join into any 3 CH space.
RND 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each ST and 1 CH space across.
*Work [2 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each ST and 1 CH space across. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(21 DC on each side; 4 x 2 CH corner spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.
With C – join into any 2 CH space.
RND 7: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each DC across.

With D – join into any 2 CH space.

With E – join into any 2 CH space.
NOTE: The FIRST DC on each side is SKIPPED! This is important for the stitch count for the next sections and joining.
RND 9: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space; SKIP FIRST DC; work 1 DC into each DC across.
*Work [2 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space; SKIP FIRST DC; work 1 DC into each DC across. ** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(32 DC on each side; 4 x 2 CH corner spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.
